Question about Vornado 723B Fan

1 Answer

Put the fan away for the winter - Now it won't start!

No noises made when I turn it on.

Popped the cover off the front and tried to give it a spin to assist it and still no joy.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Spray a little WD-30 on the shaft where it enters the motor (and at the back of the motor if the shaft is visible).  Turn it on and help it spin if needed.  It should start slowly and then speed up as the bearing heats up.  The lube is probably solidified from non-use.

I am not sure if Bosch has a "load sensing" sensor, but I would start there else you may have a motor issue, or bad capacitor on your motor.

I have a roaring sound when i start the envoy what can it be? when I put it in neutral the noise goes away and too if i have been driving it for awile the noise goes away it only roars when I start it...

That's the fan clutch for the radiator fan. It has a thick fluid in it and in this cold weather it is ispecially thick. This makes the fan turn almost at engines speed and that makes the roaring noise. After it has been spinning a while, the fluid gets warm and gets thinner. that makes the fan turn slower than the engine. This is normal and needs no attention.

Hums but wont fire

Remove the top cover, plu it back in and see if the hum goes away, if it
doesn`t look to see if the fan is stuck, if it is unplug and try to spin it
by hand, if it wont spin replace the fan motor

Spinning sound when pushing gas peddle, sitting

try it with the belts off you can start it and see if the spinning noise goes away then it's accessory's like bad alternator or power steering pump but dont run it more than a minute or two or it will start to overheat. and if it still makes spinning noise make sure it's not coming from the transmission /use a broomstick against the engine block near each piston to hear the condition of the pistons if there scored real bad it makes noticable diff noise than a diff piston will make. check the front of the engin the water pump sometimes needs to be replaced because the bearing in it drys up and fails / there sealed bearings in a water pump than go make noise . good luck give you stuff to think about.

You would have to put the Jeep up in the air on a lift. Put it in 4wd and check for noises from the front hub bearings.

Referral from Ekse. DLP Samsung spinning noise

the most likely cause would be either the color wheel or the cooling fan. If you listen at the rear cover can you dtermine where the noise is loudest? does the noise instantly go away when you turn the power off after its been on awhile? If so its the color wheel, If not its the cooling fan.
