I’m not savvy, but I can follow directions, and this has me
scratching my head.I have 2
printers “Y” – connected to a single USB port (which worked OK on my PC).After connecting to my new Mac, I
updated the drivers for both and now the Mac doesn’t see them and they aren’t
available in my System Preferences.I downloaded each driver a few times and sometimes the HP will be shown
in the Pref’s, but it will still say it doesn’t see it.
Mac OSX 10.5.6
Epson Photo Stylus R1800
HP Photosmart C3100

Re: Can't add printers to Mac
Can you install them individually (i.e. connect only one printer with a single cable to the USB port)? If you can and then connect them both through a USB hub you may be able to see them both in the printer setup and select the one you want when printing.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Hi. There are two steps. First the printer must be connected to the wireless network - see the installation instructions that came with the printer. The mac is not involved in this part. Until you get it done you will not be able to do anything else. Second. make sure you have the most up-to-date drivers for your printer installed on the Mac (this applies to any printer - not just your HP). Once the drivers are installed, go to System preferences and select "Print & Fax". and hen click on the + sign to add a new printer. Wait a moment or tweo and the printer's name should pop up. Click it's name then wait for the drivers to be identified - this can take several minutes so be patient. As it's an HP you will probably get a bonjour connection but a word of warning, I have had more trpouble getting Macs and HP ptinters to work reliably over WiFi than any other make.
