If I watch TV for a while, after turning the unit off, I have to wait for about an hour before being able to turn it on again.

Pioneer elite rear projection - unit crashes frequently, making a popping sound, gets yellow/black striped screen with inward arcing edges. Have to manually turn off unit, wait a while, usually, then...

You may need the power supply board resoldered as I had the same problem. The guy listed below can do it for you as I shipped mine from Illinois to him in California... Piece of cake getting the board out of the back and it's not too fraigile... Just pack in bubble wrap and it will be fine. My TV is now working great.

My y65 has a new bulb when I turn it on yellow light come on within a few seconds and a check air flow message come on the screen tv then turns off if I wait about 30 seconds I can turn it back on again...

I would check the filter on the fan intake first. Remove it and carefully clean it with compressed air.If this does not resolve your problem then I would remove the lamp and inspect the switch in the vicinity of the door for problems. Be very careful reassembling the unit once the door is removed. The interlock swich must be positioned correctly or you will get an error message. I have a tip at which explains the problem and how to fix it.

Thanks for using FixYa. You’ll need to reset the Projection TV and to reset it follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the television and wait for 5 minutes.

2. After 5 minutes unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.

3. Let the television remain without power for more then 1 minute.

4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. If the television is plugged into a power surge protector, remove it from there and plug it directly into the wall outlet. Turn on the television. If the issue is resolved, then the problem is with the power surge protector and not the television.

If the issue is not resolved then this might have happened due to over-voltage. Please check the power supply unit for swollen/bulged capacitors and burnt wires/components on the power supply board of your TV. You should try and turn off the TV for 8-10 hours to reset it. Please make sure to turn off and unplug the TV for at least 1 hour (this will drain off current from all components especially capacitors) before you perform any repairs. Also note that the TV consists of very high voltages even when it is in OFF condition. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise and know how to solder/re-solder components.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Your TV is overheating.. easiest remedy is to point a fan at the back of the TV or... clean the inside of the TV, Im sure its full of dust and stuff... this prevents air circulation inside the TV thus creating more heat...

Turned off while watching, won't turn back on.

The TV is in "protect " mode, which means that it is shut down because of an internal fault condition. - unfortunately you need a technician to investigate the problem . THis is not a job for a hanyman. Sorry ..
