To access the door handle mounting screws, you have to remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. You can use a small screwdriver to simply pry the plastic up and work your way gradually around the perimiter of the glass. Most microwave ovens have grooves in the panel that you can insert the screwdriver into. Use care not to pry against the glass. The glass is tempered and also has an RF shield that prevents harmful microwaves from potentially harming the consumer. If you break the glass, you will need to purchase a new door.

The door handle screws are located behind the inner panel. Simply remove the broken handle and install the new one. Re-insert the inner door panel carefully and gradually work your way around the perimeter of the door glass and make sure it snaps back into place.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

I need. To replace the handle for a kitchen aid microwave. I have the new part but it came with no instructions. I am afraid to do to break the microwave model# KHMS155L 0. Any one who knows where to...

Here's an exploded view of the door:

pgh_pa_guy_24.jpg

Item 10, the door panel, just snaps over the rest of the assembly. If you work slowly and carefully with a flat object like a putty knife, you can separate the door panel and take it off without damage. This will expose the screws (number 8) which hold the handle on. Then you just need to snap the door panel back into replace after you put on the new handle.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!

I need a new door for this microwave. I have been looking online for hours and can't find just the door. Can anybody give me a website that sells just the door for this micro? Thanks....

The door is available at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

If the model number you listed this question under is correct, the part number for the ENTIRE door is WB56X10585.

Is there a reason for replacing the entire door? You can purchase individual replacement parts if only a single part on the door is broken. The first three sites on the list have helpful exploded view diagrams to assist you in locating and properly identifying the parts you may need.

The most common thing that fails on these doors is the door handle. If only the handle is broken, the door handle can easily be replaced on most microwave ovens by removing the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. The following link explains how to access and replace the door handle:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3696942-microwave_oven_door_handle_replacement

The average cost for a replacement handle usually averages about $20 - $40. Replacements may be purchased at the websites listed in the link I provided.
The part numbers for the handle on this model are (2 pieces):

WB15X10119
WB15X10120

If you have any questions, please post back with your and let me know. I hope this helps you

Door Handle Broke - GE says I need an entire new door...

They don't like the general public fixing doors because of the danger of microwave leakage, you can do it just ask the seller how he got it off and hot to reinstall it if he wants to sell it. there are seals that can be damaged that could cause you to get hurt if the door is not properly lined up. Your call.

Broken handle on Spacemaker microwave

The handle can be replaced without replacing the entire door, or oven. The part number is WB15X1309 and can be purchased at pcappliancerepair.com for about $45. Due to the age of your oven, I could only find it at a couple of web sites, and this was the cheapest price I could find for you.

The door handle can easily be replaced without the assistance of a repairman. This is a common problem with some microwave oven doors.

To access the door handle mounting screws on MOST microwave ovens, you have to remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. You can use a small screwdriver to carefully pry the plastic up and work your way slowly around the perimiter of the glass. Most microwave ovens also have grooves in the panel that you can insert the screwdriver into.

This repair can be done with the door in place, or you can remove it for easier access. If you decide the remove the door, simply open it all the way and lift straight up at the hinges. The door will lift off of the hinge pins. Place on a hard flat surface with some towels under it for padding. This protects the door facing from scatches.

If you have any questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: Some doors have a small hinge pin that has to be removed in order to remove the door.
