Question about Beverage-Air DP46 Commercial Refrigerator

Condenser bad? We have an OLD beverageair cooler in our store and we're trying to make it rhough the summer before we replace it. It stopped cooling, and it isn't draining into the pan anymore. Would it be prudent to diagnose this is a bad condenser?

It is warm to the touch, the fan is running, The only visual change is the "no drainage" issue. it's been like this for about a week. I've taken everything out and it's jsut sitting there humming away. Pretending to work.

It sounds as if the unit is not cooling but that does not always mean that the compressor is D.O.A.

Need to check alittle more. If you can see the compressor and touch the top of it, see if it is running, Should be warm to the touch. Watch out for the fan! Double check your t'stat to make sure someone did not turn it to the"Off" position when you were not there or for any other strange reason. Any further info you can supply would help greatly in the "Fix" process.

See if the compressor motor is running

The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help.

If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these:

  • The compressor

  • The Thermostat

  • The overload, relay, or capacitor

  • The defrost timer

  • The condenser fan motor

Why does my wine cooler run too cold?

If after adjusting your thermostat to desired temp and is still cooling. The thermostat is bad or your relay is bad
If you disconnect the thermostat and the compressor stops it most likely a bad thermostat
If you disconnect the relay from
The thermostat and it stay running it is the relay. It is sticking
If possible store you wine somewhere else and shut the unit down and unplug for 10 to 20 minutes this may cause some melt of condensation some water may be on the floor if is to cold
This may also reset the system.

FREEZER WAS WORKING FINE 5 years ago before we stopped using it because we didn't use it anymore. But i tried using it again this year, it turns on but will not work/freeze.

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service technician.
You have not provided very much information, so I am going to make some assumptions.
First, you stored the unit either outside with a cover or stored it in you garage; both of which have drastic changes of seasonal temperature. This is bad.
Basic refrigerators and freezers are designed to be both store and operate in a controlled atmosphere, such as your home.
Not properly stored and with changes of temperature between night and day and winter and summer, creates condensation on all of the components as well as thermal expansion on the brazed seal system joints.
Well, let's check it out. I assume both the evaporator and condenser motors are running.
Unplug the unit. Remove the back lower cover. Feel around the compressor and tubing for a oily substance. If this is the case, then you have a refrigerate leak. This is a major repair and will cost $650.00 to $750.00.
Ok, no oily substance. Inspect for burned wiring from condensate.
You may also had condensate get to your control board.
It is difficult to say what the problem is because I am making experienced assumptions.
Do not discard this unit. The older units are better built. A service tech such as I to show up at your door is $79.00. I estimate this service call will be about $350.00.
Call me. Let's kick it around. 443-306-1362

My vinotemp vt60 starts cooling then stops

I sounds to me like the compressor is overheating. There is an overload on the compressor itself. Follow the wires where they go into the compressor. There will be a black wire going from the power cord to the overload. These can be purchased at appliance parts stores. Make sure there is no dirt build up on condenser coils or a kink in the tubing.

The air conditioner will not cool

if you are only getting 2-3 days out of a charge of refrigerant, it is likely you've got a pretty decent sized leak. Most likely the condenser, as I'm guessing that hasn't been replaced yet since it is probably the hardest part in the a/c system to access. it could also be bad o-ring seals at any juncture in the system. if it has been going in for 9 weeks and you still have a leak that bad, I would recommend specifically asking them if they are using a UV dye, and if they have used a refrigerant "sniffer" inside the weap holes where condensation runs out from the condenser... I had a similar problem in my pontiac a few summers ago, they found the leak in my condenser using their refrigerant "sniffer/detector" device by sticking it up in the weap holes, pretty expensive to repair.

on a side note, there is a stop leak that you can buy at almost any autoparts store, called "super seal". most garages will advise against it, but the guys at my local "big name" autoparts store, swear by it for the big leaks in expensive places.

Does my 2006 pontiac montana sv6 have a transmission cooler so I can haul a small trailer with 2 quads? Do I really need one?

Most vehicles have one or two means of cooling
trans fluid.
I wouldn't tow anything, without replacing whatever
factory cooler you have, out front of the condenser

You need more cooling capacity and in the summer
I would bypass the radiator cooler and use the surface
to air,you need to upgrade

Where can I get a wiring diagram for an under-counter Beverage-Air cooler. The condenser runs then stops after a few seconds. Figuring a bad relay? The power runs but the condenser kicks off immediately...

If it's the condenser fan you are talking about you will not need a wiring diagram. The fan should be wired to the compressor and the thermostat. the thermostat is the relay to start the fans and compressor. I will continue to look for a wiring diagram. When the fan wears out they will stop causing the cooler to overheat. I think replacing the fan would be what you need. I believe that Beverage Air used the Copeland compressor with the condenser fan mounted on the one end of the the same slide in compressor. Check your voltage on the 2 wires going to the fan. When compressor is on the fan should also be running. I just have the feeling that condenser fan is defective.

2002 Lancer 2002 A/C won't kick in at hot weather temperature during the Summer in Texas. It works perfectly at cooler temperature such as morning or cloudy day. The A/C also work while engineer is hot...

Okay, here are a few possibilities. First, they do make a High performance freon and carry it at Autoparts stores. Second, moderation. All A/C systems have a low pressure cutoff switch and a high pressure cutoff switch. You want to stay below the high limit. Freon is a gas and will generate more pressure when the outside air is hotter. The switches run $20 to $40 each. It may be possible to change to different pressure numbers without blowing a hose. You old switches could be weak.
