I keep getting the same message

  • randyluckyc Jun 03, 2009

I tried tapping f8 and just kept getting the same message. From what I gather it is asking me to enter a disc. I think I either need to reinstall a windows 2000 disc. I will have to find a disc or hire someone to do it for me. It sounds like the windows program may have been corrupted or deleted some how.

Keep pressing F8 when you turn on the laptop and see if you can get to the boot menu. If you do then choose safe mode and see if you can get into there.

When you get the resume failure message, push and hold the power button until the unit turns itself off (usually around 5 seconds). Once it is turned off, press the power button again to turn it on and it should boot right into windows for you.

Hi ihave toshiba tecra a3 .i want chang my windows(xp) by another. but in changing process my laptop turn off and when i turn on it after one or two seccond turn off began. please tell me how can i do

That will be because there are no drivers installed and the system just crashed.
Get your rescue disc and restart the laptop with it, putting the system back as it was. When done, go to www.toshiba.com and download the updated drivers and then try again.

Toshiba tecra problem: disk i/o error:status = 00000400 ntdetect failed

This indicates you may be experiencing a pretty severe hard drive failure. I would recommend replacing your hard drive ASAP, and in the meantime, use your Windows OS disk to repair the windows installation to access your system again. No worries, done properly this process does not erase your files, only your system files that Windows uses to function.

Good Luck

My Tecra Toshiba will not turn on or off, even plugged in.

Yes it is. And, it is highly recommended that you remove the battery if you're going to use your laptop for more than 1 hour. If you keep your battery in and have the laptop connected to the adapter, the poor battery is going to be charging/discharging so much that its life is greatly shortened. Also, this is what causes dead cells in batteries.
You might possibly have an internal power supply problem.
But, go ahead - remove the battery. See if it helps.
You also might try letting the battery charge for 3 hours with the laptop off.

How to remove BIOS memory cache

Since it is a Toshiba Tecra if you are not worried about losing data on the laptop you can try turning on the laptop and start pressing the zero key. It should give you the option to restore your laptop if you haven't deleted the restore partition on the laptop.

Blue screens are generally operating system failure. You will need to reinstall your XP home. Format the drive NTFS, instead of FAT32. If you have any problems during or after the reload, then the hard drive is the failure and will need replaced.
