Paper jam NOT

I'm getting a paper jam message when there's no paper jam.
The paper will load about half way, and then a light will come on saying there is a paper jam. Nothings jammed, so I don't know what the deal is. I've taken apart the back to see if there is something jammed in there, but theres nothing wrong. I've turned the printer and computer off and on many many times, but it's not helping.

I'm having the same problem...paper loads half way, then the check paper / check printer cartridge lights come on. I'm at my wits end.

I took my printer apart and found that a little black plastic piece had broken near where the print cartridges are installed. It appears that that piece is at times under pressure, so trying to glue it seemed futile. I could hear the piece rattling around in the case when I moved the printer, and had tried all of the other ideas for fixing the problem.

I'm also is having the same problem...paper loads half way, then the check paper / check printer cartridge lights come on. I cleaned the track, lots of black stuff came out. still not working

This was a great printer while it lasted, but it's obvious that it had some serious engineering problems. I took my printer, with the broken plastic piece that couldn't be repaired, to school where we use it as a scanner. This experience makes me appreciate the equipment that works well and lasts.

Hi
Try this, remove all paper and bins.
then get alcohol and a clean cloth, clean all rollers and tires.
You will get a lot of black dirt and stuff off after cleaning
really well try, if it works for a while then yhat was your problem,
if it is only temporary then tires will need replacing.

Comment by check it right,

Good Luck

     Otherwise
1- try to make an internal test ( hit one of the buttons on the printer
to make a test sheet. this is actually a self diagnosis)
2- make sure the paper size is the correct,
3- check sensor next to where the paper goes in ( try this test :
when paper jams halfway, leave it, turn off printer and on. does it show
a paper jam? if no the sensor is bad. if yes are you using paper with holes
for binders? turn paper other way and try.

    Good luck.

Throw the damn thing away and buy a brother printer, they never jame
it is not worth my time and frustration to try and fix a problem that is clearly just a faulty product

Middle light blinking message says paper

Look for any small rips of paper caught in a sensor back there. There are little "fingers" that the paper runs over and its all timed. if one of those sensors are jammed with something or sticky, error messages.

Paper jam

hey, give this a shot
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.
