this car takes a 14" rim. you an check for your self though by looking on the drivers side door frame and looking for the tire size on that placard. thte tire size can be read as following;

Width Profile(% of width) Rim size.

this is just an example and not the actual tire size.

The largest tyre size for 2001 VW Jetta 1.9 TDI is:
6,5 x 16 Rim size, 205/55 R 16 Tyre size

they should fit--only problem would would be a turning clearance up front check clearance by turning wheel all the way to left and make sure tires clear frame and front end components than do same all the way to right

265/85r16. rim is 16x7 i believe. the tire size should be on the drivers door jamb

It is hard to say what size tire you need.First thing we need to know is the size of the rim or wheel you have on the car now.You can get this information from the side of the tire on the car.

It is 5 Lug o Unless it has the Newer Style Rims

you will need new rims but if they do it correctly (i.e. change the aspect ratio of the tire to counter act the rim size increase) this will not effect the speedometer.
