It's sounding like a motherboard problem to me.
You've done all you can--the circuit on your motherboard that controls the charging is evidently gone bad on you.

These days the price of laptops is coming down. And then there are company refurbs. Quite cost effective. I've helped a number of people buy Dell refurbs.

Its plug in but battery wont charge

If your battery will not charge, you need to run a test on some components on the laptop. The battery, the charger and the laptop itself. Once you detect the faulty conponent then you replace it with a new one.

To test the battery:
1.Power off the laptop,
2.Take out the battery,
3.Insert it in another laptop,
4.Check of it will charge,

If the battery holds a charge there, then it means the problem is not from the battery, but if it does not hold a charge, then it means the battery is defective and need to be replaced with a new one.

To test the charger:
1.Unplug the charger from the present laptop,
2.Connect it to another laptop to see if it will charge.

If it charges the laptop, then it means the charger is alright, and if it does not charge the laptop, then it means the charger is bad and need to be replaced.

To test the laptop:
1.Turn off the laptop,
2.Disconnect your present charger,
3.Remove your present battery pack,
4.Insert a well tested battery into the laptop,
5.Connect a well tested charger to the laptop.

If it powers on, then it and charges, then it means the laptop is working fine, but if it does not charge, then it means the connection port of the laptop is bad.Hope this information was helpful.

I have a hp6735s i got a new battery and it turned on for all of 2 mins then went of its bin charging for about 10 hrs and blinks half ornage half blue but wont come on at all .. the ac adapter voltage is...

The Genuine Battery for this laptop is:
(HP: HSTNN-IB51, 451086-361)
47WH 10.8 Volts

Adaptor sounds right also, though its not the volts that count ( give or take 0.5 volts each way) but the amps that matter, guess your charger will be a 3.25 or 3.65?Amp if its a genuine charger?

The actual problem could be down to a few things:

1.) Check the adaptor, see that the LED light on the adaptor is not flashing green, it should be steady. if in doubt, try a new adaptor or a borrowed one if possible. An adaptor that looks ok, may also fail under load.
2.) Check the DC jack port and see if the centre pin is loose, if it is, the DC jack will need replaced in the laptop.
3.) with a toothbrush or similar, clean the metal fins in the battery bay that the battery locks into, good contact here is important to the batteries ability to charge.

My acer aspire 4720z wont accept a charge, have replaced battery and charger

the laptop might have taken a power surge on the small board that buffers the charge into the battery. Likeley this part will need to be replaced:

My laptop not charging n its a new adapter

In this order:
Check (if yours is a Dell laptop) that it is a genuine Dell charger. An aftermarket one will NOT charge it
Then see if it is tight fit, if loose or sloppy, the jack is either the wrong size, or your port is worn. If the latter, you will need to get a new one put in (usually about 4.00 to buy)
Then check the light on the charger, if it is pulsing it means that the charger is not getting through to the laptop (power is being "spat back"), this indicates a faulty charging circuit
Finally, with a DC multimeter set to 20 volts, put one probe into the inner part of the DC JACK (the bit that goes into the laptop) and the other probe against the outer part of the jack. (Red to inner, black to outer). Check the power voltage is 20 volts. If not, the charger is faulty.

After that.. could be battery is unable to accept a charge, in which case replace battery, or there isa faukt on the motherboard.

My gateway netbook wont charge, they sent me a new battery but again it will not charge, what could be wrong?

Hello,

The problem might be either from the charger or from the laptop.

To confirm and repair if it is the charger, all you have to do is to plug the charger on another laptop to see if it will charge, if it does not charge, then you know the fault is from the charger, and the solution is for you to replace it with a new one, before you replace it, try to connect another power cord to the charger, because sometimes the power cord might have been burnt, that have happened to me twice and replacing the power cord solved the problem. But if replacing the power cord does not help, then you need to change the power cord.

To confirm and repair if it is the laptop, plug in a new charger to the laptop, if it does not charge, then you need to understand that the charging port of the laptop is faulty and needs to be replaced, have a repairman replace the charging port for you.

Take care and good luck

I have a latitude d620 i purchased used a couple of years ago. recently, my battery charger light has not been lighting unless i giggle the battery charger body. this has worked and the battery icon on...

1. Test power adapter for output voltage. Bend the power cable in various directions while doing this to be sure that there is no broken conductors in the cable.
2. If power adapter is Ok, connect it & see if the power LED on the laptop will glow when you jiggle the power connector in various directions. If yes, then the DC jack might be loose or damaged, & need to be either re-soldered or replaced.
3. If not, then disassemble the laptop. Remove any components that attach to the laptop's motherboard first (e.g. battery, hard drive, RAM, wireless card, optical drive, ... etc.)
4. Next, remove the keyboard & the LCD screen.
5. Finally, unscrew all screws that hold the upper cover & lower cover together so that you could gain access to the motherboard.
6. Inspect the solder points connecting the DC jack to the motherboard. Make sure that none of them is loose. If any, re-solder them.
7. Inspect the center pin in the DC jack. Make sure that it is not broken or loose. If it is, then you might need to replace the DC jack.
8. When you are done, re-assemble back the laptop.

My hp compaq laptop charger is not working in the charging port but the laptop work's when the battery is charge and place in the laptop how to use the external battery port

First of all, you need to make sure your power adapter is providing enough power to both run the laptop & charge the battery. A very good way to do this is to compare your laptop voltage & ampere requirements (written on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop) with the voltage & ampere ratings of the power adapter. Voltages should be the same, or the power adapter's voltage about up to 0.5 volts more than the laptop's voltage rating. Amperage of the power adapter should be at least equal to or greater than the laptop's rating. It should never be less than the laptop's rating, or else the power adapter will be providing insufficient amperes to charge the battery. Of course, the power adapter's nominal amperage might be ok, but it degraded on usage. You can verify this by testing using a good or new power adapter.
If the battery did not charge using the new power adapter, take the battery off the laptop, & using a dry tooth brush, scrub in between the fins of the battery connector on the motherboard & on the battery it self, then put the battery back into the laptop & try again.
If this still did not resolve the problem, then the battery itself could be bad. Try it on another laptop, or try a good or new battery in your laptop.
If this did not work, there might be a possibility that the charging circuitry on the laptop's motherboard is defective & needs servicing. In order to do this, the laptop needs to be disassembled & the motherboard checked for defective/burned out components in the area near the DC jack. Any defective/burned out components found should be replaced, or you might need to replace the laptop's motherboard altogether.

DC Jack diagnosis:

My laptop stopped charging and i lost battery and now it wont charge at all, even tried a universal charger as well.

You need to get the DC Power Jack Either Repaired or replaced...this is the "female" port where your AC Power cord plugs into.. To Repair the current DC Jack...First you'll need to look closely at the Positive posts to see that they are not broken.. If visibally ok.. then you can look at the Solder Connections.. they will need to first be Desoldered.. Cleaned, then Resoldered back in place....
