Washer will work in Rinse or Spin settings, but not any wash settings

If you are doing the normal procedures and the water elimination function is working, you have power to the circuit board and controls. The circuit board wash cycle section is independent and aligned with the timer circuit, thus the Wash Cycle Controller has failed. All of the functions or options are one the one board and a replacement board needs to be purchased and installed.

The timer know on my whirlpool washer does not move. I have to go and turn the knob for the machine to get out of the wash cycle, the spin cycle and the rinse cycle.

If the knob does not move to the end of the wash, spin and rinse cycles (i.e. remains in one position) then the little drive motor that operates the timer/function rotary selector, has either lost power or is faulty.
If you have a multimeter (and know how to use it) then it's easy to determine if power is reaching the motor. If power is present, but no movement from the little motor, then you're probably looking at replacing the selector mechnism. If no power on the mechanism, then you will have to do some visual wire tracing (with power removed from the machine) to determine where the discontinuity is.
Bear in mind that once the washing machine is opened for measurement, you will be exposed to live mains power.
You are liable for your own safety. Take great care.

Have a Maytag washer LAT9635AAE. It fills with water and does not proceed. The timer seems to move the dial around but doesn't engage the washing functions. At first I thought it was simply not...

Remove the timer and get the outer skin off of it. Twist the timer around and hunt for burn marks on the barrel. I suspect it is the timer. To get it off you pop the cap on the knob and under it is a keeper and spring you remove. Then the knob and skirt will come off and you can get to the screws which hold the timer to the consolethemobilian_29.png
If the timer turns out to be ok then the motor is suspect.
Note: This washer is well worth repairing. Anything out there on the market now is trash compared to this machine. Invest in repairing it. You will be glad you did.

Not draining after rinse cycle

replace the timer it has a bad spot inside of it in this segment of the timer and isn't passing voltage for spin, when you forward it then it gets power again, they do wear out too

Kenmore washer - water won't drain. It stops

If the water drains between the wash and rinse cycles, your motor and pump are probably OK. If this is a machine with a dial, try a different cycle, like normal instead of heavy duty. If that works and the machine completes the entire cycle then the timer probably has a bad spot. You might try to find a replacement timer if that is the case although I didn't have any luck with my 10 year old washing machine. Best of luck

Model 110 stops with water in machine. Move dial to rinsing cycle. Runs some then stops with water in machine.

HI. The timer module will be the culprit here. The timer motor is malfunctioning. This motor is responsible for the forward motion of the timer dial. If it dose not function correctly, it will cause the issues that you are experiencing. kindly replace this damaged timer control device. Once replaced, the unit will operate properly.

Washing machine starts by itself

going through to the next wash not na normal function, perhaps the machine is advancing to an extra rinse cycle?? this EXTRA RINSE will start after the normal wash is complete, i would check your dial settings perhaps some one has mistaknely switched extra rinse "ON". if htis os not tyhe case the n i would jave to blame a faulty timer mechanism and you would need to replace the timer

Won't complete the cycle

Try using a quick cycle and see what happens. Don't use sanitize or any extra heat cycle. Sometimes during sanitize high temp rinse or other cycles the timer motor is stopped until the water heats up. The sensor could be defective. Not all machines do this and I'm not real familiar with your particular one.

Does not advance to drain cycle

I would bet that it is the timer switch assy.
Motor runs ? yes
washes? yes
drain tube clear ? yes

If there is no drain valve to deal with, the problem must be the contacts during the timer cycle, since the main obviously works or you wouldn't be able to wash anything.
you need a new timer switch assy.
