Question about Samsung DVD-HD850 DVD Player
After loading a disc, it will read loading for a few seconds, but ultimately defaults to "no disc". Have tried several different DVDs to ensure it's not the type of disc we're using. Loading for a minute or so, then the screen says >This Disk Cannot Be Played. >Please Check the Disk, and the display on the front reads "no disk." The disc plays on the $39 Symphony DVD in my bedroom, but not on the HD850 hooked to my big screen. OTHER discs will play, but some will not...some won't, then will. Time to trash it?
It is very possible that the lens motor has burnt out. Sometimes the capacitors on the motherborard short out causing the gear timing to go out..
The only thing you can do to fix this is to take the cover off. Get cotton swab and dip it rubbing alcohol and clean the glass laser eye with it.
