Question about BenQ FP731 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

I have LCD Benq 17" monitor that suddenly refuses to power up!

Monitor worked perfectly when shut down computer last night but this morning refuses to power up can't even get the power switch to light up. Tried it on my laptop, laptop reconizes it and installs software but monitor still won't power up.
The only thing that may have caused some problem that I may have caused was to try and load "GParted" through bootup as I wanted to try and load a 2nd. OS (Linux).
Hope you can help?
with many thanks, regards
Barry

That shouldn't have messed up your monitor at all. It sound slike it needs to be reset. Unplug the monitor for at least 5 minutes. Then plug it in and power it back on.It may be stuck in a standby mode.

Sudden Shutdown of the unit, I Cannot use my FP72E BenQ LCD monitor Properly because at the middle of using it, it suddenly shutdown, open, shutdown again, open again. is this unit is capable for long...

For the monitor that is more than 2 years old, first place to look will be the power supply, look for bad caps with bulging top first, post back what you see inside so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps; http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Have you unplugged the power cord to the LCD? Let it sit for a minute, then try it. ALWAYS buy a UPS and plug any computer devices into it. Doesn't have to be big, a $50 unit will protect it from dangerous voltage surges.

When i turn on my monitor it shows my desktop then shuts off after 10 seconds...never stays on

elainenemeth, Hi, Tell me more! How old is this LCD monitor? Is it out of warranty? Did the "SHUT-DOWN-IMMEDIATE" problem occur without warning? Did the BenQ display a "perfect" image the day before? Did you actually count----1001, 1002----1010 and then it shut down, after pushing the monitor on button. Did you do the "flashlight" test? With monitor connected to a "known-good", fully booted pc with Win Desktop displayed, TURN ON the monitor! Did it display the desktop for 1-2-10 seconds ? What did you see or not see when you pointed the flashlight at different angles about 1-2" inches from the now dark (black) screen? Get back to me with your results. I will offer the best advice possible to you as a consumer/user of LCD/FPD monitor. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @ aol.com Bye for now.

Just fixed mine. Maybe it's a few years late. Hope you guys still have the display. It's the power supply board. I've just replaced 4 bulge capacitors near one edge of the PS. They are 2x1000uF 10V, 1x470uF 25V & 1x470 10V. I salvaged my parts from an old CRT monitor. Hey you can go green with your repairs too!

Hello
I have had this problem twice once at my school and once with my BenQ FP71G Monitor. At my school the monitor ( HP ) just stopped working and smelt like burnt popcorn.(though is think this is due to some kids chucking a soccer(football) ball at it! With my BenQ it has the same problem though i nownthink it is because of the monitor has been on for excessive hours ( 3-4 ) and just shut down because of overheating. I will see in a couple of hours if it works !

Similar monitor, similar problem. I actually had to dismantle the thing and replace a transistor on the mainboard.

If you're not into soldering and such, good luck.
