Question about Fafco Deluxe Solar Panel Heating System 1 4' X 20' Panel

1 Answer

Support of 4x20 panel

I don't want to lay this on the ground, the picture has it leaning against the pool, is it able to do this without support or is there a support frame of some kind? If so, is it available? Please clarify or advise Why can't you lean the panel against the pool as in the picture?

The picture obscures the fact it is mounted on plywood panels which are leaned against the pool.

The manufacturer does not offer any sort of support for it. You'll need to install it however it bests fits your pool/yard.

Hello I have i 18 foot by for foot deep above ground pool with the blow up ring. It is about 3 inches lower on one side. Well we got in it today with no problems of water coming over the ring. Well ...

above ground pools have to be erected on perfectly level ground. If you have one side 3 inches lower than the other then all the weight of the water is against that lower side and eventually the water will overcome the air pressure in the ring and it will collapse and let the water out especially if the ring has a small air leak and looses pressure. You are lucky that you do not have a pool with 4ft sides as the loosing water effect is remarkable and will wash away any thing in it's way. Use the water in the pool as a level and adjust the base ground so that the pool sits level all the way around.

How do I install a dry well in my in ground pool

To install a drywell(or sump pit) you will need to dig a hole beside the pool(usually les than 3' from the pool wall or in the same backfill material as close to the the overdig for the pool as possible. The goal here is to get down the the bottom of the pool wall in the backfill material so you can access the ground water that is accumulating around the pool to pump it out. Dig a large enough hole that you can install either clay tile, "Big O", 8" plastic pipe or something that will allow you to lower a submersible pump down and pump the ground water out. Keep in mind that it will be perminently in the ground and needs to hold back the surrounding soil or backfill. It's a good idea to drill several holes around the pipe as well as up a few feet from the bottom to allow for the water to pass into the pipe. Lower the pipe into the hole you've dug, fill the outside with clear gravel to the just below the top of the pipe then lay some filter cloth on this stone. Top it off sixth some soil and cover the pipe opening with your choice of either a decorative patio stone or flagstone. It's a good idea to peek inside the pit weekly to pump out any water. Especially in the spring and fall when the pool has been shut down for the year if your in a climate that this is necessary

How much salt do you put in a 22,000gal. pool?

WOW... You have a huge above ground pool! Are you planning to use the Intex chlorinator to chlorinate your 22,000 gallon pool??? If you are, take a look at the max gallon rating and how long you may need to run... Here's a chart that should help you determine how much salt to add... After adding the salt, run the pump for 24 hrs without the chlorinator to properly dissolve the salt... Don't be surprised if you need to add above 500 lbs!!!
Good luck and hope this works for you...

I have the hayward aqua bug automatic pool cleaner. My problem is this, it seems to stay at one end of the pool and knots the hose up. Not sucking the dirt up, and eventually quits. Can you tell me what is...

If the cleaner is not moving properly, you probably need to replace the shoes or the wings. If either of these is worn, it can cause improper coverage and movement (which could also cause the hose to tangle). If you are storing the pool cleaners hose in a coil position, stop doing that. To correct, lay the hose stretched out in the sun on a warm day. It will allow the hose to return to its correct shape. If it is not sucking up dirt, it could be a water flow problem also. Make sure that you have sufficient suction and make sure that the cleaners throat is not blocked.

HOW DOES THE FRONT PANEL REMOVE -FOR CLEANING THE BURNER AND MOTOR

For the model dryer you have listed, the dryer cabinet can be removed for cleaning by following these steps:

1. UNPLUG the dryer and remove the lint screen.

2. Remove the two screws that were under the lint screen and lift the top panel.

3. Unplug the door switch connector plug and any ground wire that may be installed on the casing.

4. Locate the two screws that hold the front panel in place. There should be one screw on each side in the cabinet interior.

5. With the door shut, lean against the front panel and remove the two screws that hold it in place. Once the screws are removed, grasp the front panel at the top center and lift straight up to remove.

You should now have complete access to the dryer interior.

Once you have completed your inspection and cleaning of the dryer interior re-install the dryer front panel by holding it as you did previously. Line up the holes on the inside bottom edge of the front panel with the small mounting cleats on the front edge of the side panels. This can be done by yourself, but an assistant may make it easier. Once you have the front panel in place, lean against it to hold it in place and install the mounting screws.

NOTE: Don't forget to reconnect the grounding wire and door switch connector plug. Without the door switch connected, the dryer will not run.

Lower the top panel back in place and reinstall the two screws.

NOTE: Placing a piece of duct tape over the dryer vent chute will help safeguard against dropping anything down in the blower fan assembly. If you drop any screws down the chute, you will need to remove the dryer back panel to retrieve them.

If you have any questions about this repair, or if the model number is different, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

How do you fix a leak to a 15x48 swimming pool without emptying all the water? it's a small leak on a seam near the ground.pool has been up a week & no leak, until tonight?

They make underwater patch kits that are very simple to use. You cut a patch and apply glue, fold the patch in half with the glue faceing in. take it to the leak and slowley unfold against the hole. smooth out and make sure edges are sealed down. Keep pressure on the patch as instructed on package. Then let cure. Good luck.

My cousin dug out dirt at the high point of the area where we put up the 15' x 48" Intex metal frame pool. It seemed to be filling evenly and looked great. The next day it looked as if a couple of poles...

They say that the pool should be completely even. I dont want to tell you, you have to re-do, but I also don't want to tell you that you shouldn't. Without seeing it, it is hard to say whether or not it would be safe to leave. That being said, attempt to straighten those leaning post, applying something underneath each pole so that they do not sink into the ground further. (which may difficult with the water in)

I personally have put 1/2" slate bricks under each pole post to avoid it sinking into the ground, so it being un-level is not a problem.

Basically only you know what you feel safe doing. I just hope I have helped to give you a solution to the sinking poles issue. If the ground is uneven, even with something under the post, it can still be uneven. It will be hard to get completely even. Ours is off slightly too, but its fine.

Good luck!

Support of 4x20 panel

You will not be able to lean the solar panel against the pool. You can lay it flat on a deck or even in the grass. You can also build a rack. Mine is at about 30 degree angle. I used plastic plumbers tape to attach it to the rack.(don't drill through the panel) The rack is 4' x 20'. Green treated 4 x 4 legs, green treated 2 x 4 frame, And green treated plywood top. If you can face the rack south you will have sun on the rack all day.
