From what I understand its a problem with the backwards compatibililty(the engine/drive that lets you play ps1/ps2 games)on the 60g.Sony says they have never heard of this problem yet these models are no longer in production.I have had mine for 2 years and it died today, same problem.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

PS3 has overheated, and caused the solder under the cell processor to get that hot it's melted.

When they've dried / set they have had either cracks appear or they have become warped.

The only solution is to reflow / resolder these joints.

We offer a well priced repair service, and also a longer warranty than most.

The Power Light is Red

yeah, should stay red when unit is turned off, indicating there's power but it's doing nothing.

Per user manual:
Solid red - power off (standby mode)
blinking red - power off (now cooling)
blinking green - power on (preparing to light lamp)
solid green - power on
