The inside light, cooling fan and turntable all come on. There was an arcing type sound at one time when I turned it on. I said "horn" for no better word at the time.....maybe buzzer or beeper would have been better. Anyway, it does beep when the cook time is over.

Please reply back with your brand and model number so we can help you.

(Was the horn part a joke?)

    When you hit Start to
microwave, do the inside light, cooling fan, and turntable all come on?

    When I say internal
cooling fan, I do not mean the hood vent exhaust fan which you can turn
    on and off manually.

    I'm instead talking
about the internal fan which comes on automatically whenever you
    microwave.

    Any unusual noises? Is
it louder or quieter than usual?

We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are operating here.

The magnetron has failed, simply replace this component and this will fix your heating issue.

My microwavedoesn't heat is there a fuse that may be blown

No! the fuse is fine, there are three likely causes, magnetron, "heats food" cracked high voltave diode, or a shorted high voltage capacitor.

Model R 1511 over the range microwave. My wife was heating water in it when it sounded like an M80 went off. Door popped open. I unplugged unit and allowed it to cool for an hour. Plugged it in and...

The hood fan thermal cutout is probably not bad. It should read normally open, unlike the others, which would read normally closed.

What probably blew the fuse was a blown high voltage rectifier diode.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use for test help, but read their safety warnings first:

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/diode.html
(if it's not shorted or burned, it's probably okay)

You can order the diode from Encompass here.

Do not heat any longer, lights, clock and fan work

In situtions such as these it can be considered that the Magnatron has passed on. Co0t of repair often exceeds the value of replacement.
No fuse controls the magnatron separately from the rest of the unit so deem it dead

With the availability of good second hand models on the market via pawn shops like Cash Converters etc one can find a very good unit with 30 day warranty for $50-100 and its already been checked over for defects

Light, fan, turntable all work, but oven doesn't heat

Your problem may be several things, it could be the protective diode, the magnatron or it could also be the hih voltage fuse, i advise to replace all of these components i you find the fuse hasnt blown. Good luck.

Microwave comes on but does not heat

This means the magnetron is either bad, is not receiving the high voltage it needs (failed diode) and/or the fuse is blown.
You can trouble shoot this yourself with the help of a cheap digital multimeter and a reading of the Chinglish instructions that come with it.
Be advised though; if the magnetron and the diode are OK you can encounter ~ 700 volts on a charged capacitor so let the unit rest unplugged overnight if you intend to poke around in it.

No heat in microwave

Test the high voltage capacitor, the rectifier diode.or the magnetron.

The diode and capacitors can br tested. The capacitor must be allowed discharge before testing, or you risk to get electrocuted, even if power is off. Capacitors can get discharged by shorting their two contacts.
Replace the magnetron if the checks and all of the high voltage component tests are good, but the unit still does not heat.

All locations, and description of this parts can be located using the diagram here: Counter top.

Parts must be tested to find out what is wrong.

Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

Regarding parts, contact the seller here to purchase parts. (here in UK).

Microwave turns on, but no heat or turntable movement

The problem is that the magnatron is not getting power. Chance is that if could be a bolwn fuse inside the unit. If the fuse don't fix it then that leaves the charging diode, capacitor or the magnatron, or high voltage xformer of which without technical epertize I would not recomend attempting to replace. good luck

GE spacemaker xl1800 and Pop tarts bad mix

it sound to me as if the high voltage diode is shorted. It could be inside the capacitor or out board the cap. The capactor could also be short but this is a rarity. Diodes are a cheep item . repace it and if it don't work its probably the magnatro. good luck.
