Hard drive is starting to have bad sectors on them which is why the hard drive is freezing and can't go thru the scandisk properly. Try a different known hard drive.

Very,very slow freezes up

First download CC Cleaner. Just Google for it. Thereis a free and a paid version. The free works fine. Run the cleaner for cookies and Internet tracks. When finished, then run CC Cleaner registry cleaner. While you have I opened, uninstall any extra programs or bookmarks you don't need. Also check your start up menu and see if there is anything that can be turned off (doesn't need to run at startup). You can do all of this with CC Cleaner. Next google for Malwarebytes free. Download the program and install it. Scan your system with this program and do an extended scan (the second choice). This could take a while so go get a snack and something to drink from the kitchen. When Malewarebytes is finished scanning, you need to tell the program what to do with what it has detected. I usually check all entries and tell it to remove all. Using system utilities, do a disk cleanup followed by a disk defrag. Again this (the disk defrag) could take a while. Take the dog for a walk and, when you come back, if your computer is finished defragging

Hi, my acer aspire 3810t is really slow. does anyone know how to speed it up?

In safe mode
1.Scan with superantispyware free http://www.superantispyware.com/
2. Scan with antivirus Avast- your virus protection may be corrupt
http://www.avast.com/index
3. defragment and disk clean up along with disk check
4. reset or restore internet explorer or browser
if things go well you need to scan your computer regularly and update virus data bank
if things are not working, chances are your windows is corrupt and you can either install a fresh copy of windows or restore your computer using your recovery disk
4. Lastly do a diagnostic scan making sure your hard drive doesn't require replacement
good luck!

Hi!
Try to reboot your computer. If still you cant open it after rebooting. Click my computer icon. using right click then select disk management then try to see the condition if your drives are present. If its present but it is not found in the display you try to check your Hard disk drive to another computer and scan for viruses.

Screen blinks and turns blue

This sounds like it could be related to Malware. I would suggest three things. A malware scan, a maintenance cleaning, and checking your startup applications.

To run a malware scan goto: www.trendmicro.com/housecall

And follow the instructions on the page, let this run, until the results dialogue window pops up, this make take a while. 1-3+ hours. Just let it run, you do not need to attend it once it tells you it is scanning.

For maintance cleaning, visit this site to download an application called CCleaner
http://www.filehippo.com/download/file/df09062a5bdcfd3a0a0cf31f7117c0cb566fe5b698d89848911da4e434cb72f5/

After these steps.
To adjust what programs you have starting up in the beginning:

Start > Run > Type "MSCONFIG" > Click the Startup Tab then un-check any program entries that you don't need starting up in the beginning. This does not remove them from your computer, just from starting up in the begining and taking resources in the background. When you need the program, you can simply click on its link in your start menu. It is your choice what you keep and what to remove.

check your disk drives (check disk)
