I'm Not a pro, but the comments refer to a refrigerator. I don't think they read your problem from start to finish. I went to RSI in Phoenix, and I would say it is low on refrigerant. I hope it's 134a.
Good Luck
Over the years the freon sloowly leaks out, it might need only an ounce or two but it will fix it in my opinion. I have the same problem with mine.

The thermostat cycles the refrigerator on and off. The refrigerator normally runs as long as the temperature inside the refrigerator is higher than the set temperature. If the temperature inside the refrigerator is cold enough and the thermostat still does not cycle off, the thermostat may be defective. If so, you need to replace it, because it cannot be repaired. If the thermostat is not defective, you may have a problem with the sealed (refrigerant) system, in which case you should contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Here is what needs to be done:

Locate your refrigerator's defrost thermostat. In freezer-on-top models, it may be located under the floor of the unit, or it could be found at the back of the freezer. If you have a side-by-side refrigerator, the defrost thermostat is found at the back of the freezer side. The thermostat is wired in series with the defrost heater, and when the thermostat opens, the heater shuts off. You will have to remove any objects that are in your way such as the contents of the freezer, freezer shelves, icemaker parts, and the inside rear, back, or bottom panel.

The panel you need to remove may be held in place with either retainer clips or screws. Remove the screws or use a screwdriver to release the clips holding the panel in place. Some older refrigerators may require that you remove a plastic molding before you can gain access to the freezer floor. Exercise caution when removing the molding, as it does break fairly easily. You could try warming it with a warm, wet towel first.

There are two wires leading from the thermostat. They are attached to terminals with slip-on connectors. Gently pull on the connectors to release the wires from the terminals. You may need to use needle nosed pliers to help you. Do not pull on the wires themselves.

Proceed to remove the thermostat. It may be secured in place with a screw, clip, or clamp. The thermostat and the clamp on some models are one assembly. On other models, the thermostat clamps around the evaporator tubing. In some other cases, the thermostat is removed by squeezing in on the clip and pulling the thermostat up.

To install your new defrost thermostat, reverse the removal process. Reconnect the wires, replace the panel, and restore power to your refrigerator. For those models where the defrost thermostat is attached to the evaporator coil, make sure you install the new thermostat in the same location and position of the old one.

I would consider the cost of these two timers and the age of this appliance.

the reality is that the new appliances use a tiny fraction of the electricity that the old models use. That said, you will have to decide whether to repair or replace or even do with one less appliance.

HI I HAVE AN OLD 13 CU. FT KENMORE UPRIGHT FREEZER. AFTER I DEFROSTED IT YESTERDAY AND AFTER IT HAD BEEN PLUGGED IN FOR ABOUT 6 HRS I NOTICED THAT THE SIDES OF THE FREEZER FELT VERY HOT . IS THIS NORMAL ?...

It had to run longer than normal to cool down the freezer again. The heat from the compressor running is what you feel.

I would not worry about it unless it is still hot after 24 hours. Then there is another problem.

Did you transport it STANDING or LYING down?
If Standing 4 possibilities:
1. The thermostat is hosed (replace)I had one like this and just put it on a $6.00 24hr time to turn on for 1hr every 5 hrs. (New Thermostat was $40.00)

2. The heat exchange fins on the back are dirty(clean with broom and air/vacuum cleaner)

3. The Door seals arent sealing and cold air is falling out the bottom, pulling hot air in the top (rehang door or replace seal) Note: a piece of paper 2" by 8" should be hard to pull out all the way around when closed. Like a cash register reciept. Cleaning with armor-All and then thinly coating with Vaseline may help
4. The Freon is shot and needs a recharge. (Costs $40-100.00)

If transported Lying down, there is now air in the lines and it needs to stand OFF for 24hrs. You may have hosed the pump with the air/freon mix, but let it stand so the air can surface and retry

UP RIGHT FRIGIDAIRE FREEZER AUTO DEFROST 11CF I THINK

This could be normal for the summer. This is the right temp to keep it at. Some units are meant to run 80 - 90 % of the time. Turn it all the way up and check the temp. Most units when working properly can get below 0. Check the condensor underneath for dirt and to see if the fan is running under there. (smaller units don't have anything underneath) Some have coils in the rear and the smallest units just use the sides of the cabinet to disperse the heat. Check the gasket see if its sealing properly or maybe the door is warped and not closing at the bottom.

Kenmore upright freezer

It is best to unplug the unit, open the door fully and let stand 24 hrs. to thoroughly defrost. Empty the drain pan if so equipped.
Wipe out interior with a dry cloth, then locccck or otherwise secure the door so that it cannot open. Place a moving cart on the non-hinge side to transport it, and never lay it on its back.
