I think I have the same problem. Worked fine until audio started getting static, etc, then only high piercing tone when I hit the weather/snooze button. All settings are correct, batteries/power source/antenna OK as far as I can see.

I have the same problem. Not sure what is wrong either. I hope we can find someone to assist us before we have to go out and buy a new one.

Did you ever get it fixed? Mine just started doing the same thing after working fine for several years.

It appears to be some kind of internal feedback. I checked the local station with my hand-held radio, it is fine. The programming has not changed.

My midland weather radio wr120 makes a loud beep about every 30 to 45 minutes. what is causing this?

I just caught mine in the act and the message was "BAD RECEPTION" - but it doesn't stay on the display very long, if you don't catch it right when it beeps, you'll miss it.

I have a wr 2004 250 it wont start ive changed the spark plug oil an filter an nothing it sounds like its going to start

Remove the plug and reconnect the coil pack to see if it has a good bright spark. If yes, do a compression test. If you are at least over 100 psi,see that your carb is clean, and not gummed up with old fuel.

The push buttons give off static when pushed and have to be held in place to hold a station! Is there a remedy for this? The problem actually started soon after I got it.

A can of contact cleaner will usually fix the static problem unplug the unit, and use the spray tube nozzle from the back side to reach the push buttons, you will have to push them in and out to clean the contacts on each slide switch. while you are at it clean the volumne and tone pot, the same way. a good brand of contact cleaner will not affect anything in the radio but will remove any dirt from the contacts. This is the usual cause of a loud static noise in most radios. A poor contact.

As far as the push buttons not staying in, I notice the red wires from the transformer are lead around the front of the radio, perhaps one has lifted enough to block the buttons from latching. Or the latch on the buttons is worn or broken away.

We have had severe weather all day and it didn't go off. It had been working perfectly for a year. When I turn on the weather/snooze button I get a constant loud squeal on every channel. any ideas??

Check this website's FAQs page- Your answer may be in FAQ #10. It may be also that your local NWS transmitter may not have been receiving a good transmission because of the type of severe weather that you had. Maybe you should call your local NWS office and plea your case. I don't know if this will help, but this is my suggestion.

WR-100 recieves fine with batteries but has nothing but static when plugged in

Check the back of the radio and make sure that the AC adapter is plugged in to an outlet that has the correct voltage for the radio to have power. Make sure that it is plugged into the DC jack securely.

No dial tone beeps with fuzz disconnect battery to work

You may need to replace the battery, or let unit charge 12-18 hours without it being plugged into telephone jack-proper recharging method. You should have done this right away when it first came home.

Keeps flashing check reception

I unplugged mine, took out the back up batteries, and waited several minutes.

I reinstalled the batteries, plugged it back in, and reset the time.

For now, it seems to have solved the problem.

Not receiving alerts anymore...

My wr-100 came with a special note inserted with the instructions that the WR-100 was programmed to not give off an audible alert on tests. This is to supposedly protect you from thinking you have a real emergency. Mine is new. Maybe the older ones had an audible test alert. I assume yours gave an alert at one time??
