Kodak M1033 4 months old. suddenly will only turn on for a sec, show me a blurry screen, then power off by itself. any ideas? Same thing. Mines about 9 months old. My friend is also having the same problem with his. Kodak say's it's been exposed to water. Mine just happened after Memorial day weekend. Went camping and took a bunch of pictures, it stopped working on day 3 so I figured it was just a dead battery. I was taking a picture and it just shut down. I have NOT dropped it or exposed it to water. The only thing I can think of is it got really cold in the tent at night? (The camera was kept in my backpack in my tent when not in use.) I was still able to download all my pictures. I've always had a battery problem, fully charged it only lasts about an hour. I have a Kodak M1033 camera that I bought just over 6 months ago. I took it on holiday it worked fine and then suddenly it switched off. Since then it only powers up for about 5 seconds, shows a unfocused image and then switches off. Obviously under software control, I guess that it cannot use the autofocus feature and so switches off. I can download the pictures using the USB lead. It has not been droped or exposed to water. Kodak seems to be ignoring requests for help and after searching the blogs this seems to be a common problem. Why are Kodak selling a camera with such an obvious fault and then providing such a poor customer service. I will NOT be buying a Kodak camera again.

I'm not sure why this works for me, but I think it's worth a try:

1) First, take your SD card out of the camera.

2) Then turn on your camera and let it turn itself off.

3) Read the next step first and be ready to press the shutter release button (take a picture) right after the LCD screen turns on

4) With the camera lens pointed down towards the floor (aim down), turn on the camera. At this point the LCD screen should not be blurry anymore. Immediately press the shutter release after confirming that the LCD is not blurry. If the camera stays on and you can review the picture (most likely of your feet), then you are almost done.

5) Turn off the camera and re-insert your SD card.

5) This may not be a permanent fix, but point the camera lens downward whenever you turn on the camera. It should work normally if you do this. Mine worked normally (meaning I don't have to point it downward when I turn it on) after doing this several times. Your results may vary.

I have a M1033 and was having a problem when turning the camera on it would immediately shut off...I tried reseting it and the problem continued it turned out to be the SD Card... I was using an 8gb. I tried using a 4gb SD card and I didn't have a problem but the minute I put the 8gb card in the camera it would shut off.....

Remove the batteries and clean the battery contacts inside the camera with a soft cloth (a heavy buildup on the contacts may require cleaning with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that the cleaning leaves in the camera, and then reinstall the batteries. This clears most power-on problems, but if yours persists, check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

This problem is frequently due to weak/worn out batteries or corroded battery terminals inside the
camera. Before you purchase new batteries, remove the batteries and wipe the terminals with a soft cloth
(heavy corrosion may require a fine wire brush, steel wool, or
sandpaper). Remove any residue left in the camera by the cleaning.
Clean the terminals on the batteries in the same manner, and then
replace them in the camera. This cures most problems, but if it
doesn't work for you, check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

I bought a FujiFilm FinePix S1600 one month ago. I used it for couple of times and was working fine. Then suddenly I couldn't switch it on. When I press the power on just flashes and it is not switched on....

The sounds like a systems control board problem, or the systems control has detected an issue with the camera. The only option is to return it to the place of purchase for repair or exchange.

I bought the Kodak Sport camera 4 months ago and hardly used it. Now I'm trying to turn it on, it won't turn on. The charging light won't turn on at all. Please help.

Make sure nothing is blocking the charging cord from making good contact. Next you can purchace a bottle of DeOxit (electronic cleaner) add one drop into the hole where it charges and place your cord back in and wiggle it slightly and try again...if this does not help it may be a defalty battery...

I know sounds stupid but, I had this problem with my laptop. For months I could not get it charged. My husband finally tested our outlet plug and realized it was no longer getting electrical power or not enough to charge since the light turned on to show charging I didn't think anything of it. Happened to be the outlet. Try another and see. Couldn't hurt right... Best of luck !

Doesnt turn on

It could be something more serious, but the problem you describe is frequently due to corroded battery contacts inside the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a clean cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, clean the contacts at both ends of the batteries, and reinsert them in the camera. This cleaning cures the problem about 90% of the time, and I hope it works for you.

After some really frustrating hours on Internet I managed to solve the problem myself. 1.Connect the camera to your pc and let it charge. 2.Switch on the camera and let it be detected by the pc. 3.Pull the USB out while you leave the camera switched on. 4.Put the camera on preview mode (the triangle |>) 5. now you can reset. Good luck, Angelo.

That's an error with the ink. Try updating the firmware on the printer. Here is the link to the latest firmware from the Kodak website.
