Question about Microsoft Flight Simulator X for Windows

FSX Free Flight shuts off

I recently installed FSX into my brand new ASUS computer with Windows Vista. I also installed My Traffic X. About 30 minutes into my flight, the game shuts off. The message shows that a problem has been found and Microsoft Windows is looking for a solution, but never has one. Any ideas why that could be happening? I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times but always get the same results. Occasionally I can get an hour out of the game without it shutting down on me...

Computer crashed now formatted with vista home and trying to reinstall flight sim X but it keeps coming with this message microsoft flight simulator x scenery world texture 024C2 Sul.BMP

FAT32. The File System used by Win98SE that has no security like NTFS file/user permissions. The lack of FAT32 security may be your answer to a lot of problems with FSX. Mine was a license issue + couldn't install ACCELERATOR pack. Windows 7 offers all the tools to create a FAT32 from available space from your C drive. ControlPanel>>AdminTools>>ComputerManagement>>Storage>>DiskManagement. Right Click on Drive C and click "shrink volume". Set shrink size to just under 32 GIGABYTES. Then format it as FAT32, Reinstall FSX into the FAT32 partition and ENJOY!!!. The install may take almost 2 hours so just let it sit. This (installing into) FAT32 thing will solve so many issues. In NTFS, if security on one file it tries to access - fails or a service FSX needs to run fails THE APP WILL FAIL!!!!

You need to uninstall and remove all temp files then do a fresh install. Sounds like one or two of the dll files are corrupted

I had to reload flight simulator fsx and 5 time it went to the end and I received an error message! and did not complete. Can you help?

Each time you are installing FSX installation is leaving behind files. Get a good quality registry cleaning program. Uninstall FSX, reboot, use the reg cleaner, then reboot, then re-install and you will be okay

FSX = ****!

It sounds like a RAM issue. FSX needs a minimum of a dual core processor, a good quality graphics card (512Mb min) and 4Mb ram. The "not responding" is caused by the PC having to try to get a large amount of data into a small amount of ram, or the processor is struggling to cope.

Unable to find fsx in windows registery unable to complete flight deck5 setup

Have you searched the registry using CTRL + F and typing in FSX or Microsoft? This should find all entries. If not, then FSX is not installed properly and you need to uninstall FSX, reboot and re-install. Good luck with it.

Check that you are running FSX and add-ons in administrator mode. This sounds like a user rights issue.

Microsoft FSX will not load on my new Vista PC

Hello hshames,
The game requires Windows XP SP2, or Vista..So that should not be the problem.

First install the latest version of Direct X which you can download FREE HERE.

Below is a small summary of what may be causing your installation problems.
This seems to be a problem some users are having. It seems to be either software related (other software not the actual software on the FSX disc itself), or hardware related (DVD drive not reading the disc properly).

To try solve this issue, follow these steps in order. If the problem is solved after step 1 (for example) you do not need to follow the instructions following that step. if not solved, move to the next step in the chain.

1. Some DVD readers can take up to 2 minutes to detect disc #2 (for reasons unknown). If the disc appears not to be detecting, just leave the computer for a few minutes and come back and check. Some users have reported that the disc #2 finally detects and installs correctly several minutes after inserting the DVD into the drive.

2. Manually browse the Disc #2 file contents in either Windows Explorer, or by accessing the DVD through the "My Computer" option and check the files on Disc#2 are actually different to those on Disc #1.

3. If you have the hard drive space available, copy the contents of both DVDs to a temporary folder on your hard drive, and install the product from the hard drive copies.

4. Read this Microsoft Tech article and follow instructions > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

After trying the above suggestions, please post back with the status of your problem and any new info so I can be of further help.

Thank you for choosing Fixya!
