RE:Dell inspiron 6400 problem in switching on

Thanks for reply yes I could see the DELL logo before diagnostic checks were started. For normal starting there is no display at all. I could feel some vibrations just next to the touch pad for two three seconds while pressing the power button and after that nothing.... There is no bios beep sound also.

In that case, Try boting in safe mode by tapping F8 key as soon as u see Dell and it will give u advance boot option, when u get that , select Safe mode, and if you are able to boot to desktop , Go to device manager by Start>right click on MY COMPUTER>manage > on right Device manager.
Check under Display Adapter and uninstall whatever is under it, by making a right click on it and uninstall ,
But in case you are not able to see Desktop in safe mode aswell,  Only option is to do OSRI.
As your screen is fine as you can see Dell.
Hope this will work
Cheers!!!!

OK ,OSRi means , reinstalling everything back on the system, And if you see Dell , Your screen is working fine, so try tapping F8 on your keyboard once u see dell and you will get a list of choices, Try using Safe mode and Start>right click on MY COMPUTER>manage > on right Device manager. Check under Display Adapter and uninstall whatever is under it, by making a right click on it and uninstall , and if it does not work, Hold ctrl key on dell and keep tapping F11 which will restore the system to factory settings

The keyboard is frozen on the dell inspiron

Try removing any external devices first (Ex. USB devices) then run some diagnostic test:

1. Turn on computer
2. Tap F12 continuously on the Dell logo screen
3. Select Diagnostics
4. Wait for the test results (approximately 10-15min.)

If all test passed no problems have been found, it means there is no problem with hardware/computer. The problem is now pointing out to be software problem. Solution will be restoring it back to factory settings.

1. Turn on computer
2. Tap F8 continuously on the Dell logo screen
3. Select Repair computer
4. Follow instructions... then select "Dell Factory Image Restore " on the recovery options
5. Follow instructions
6. Wait for 20-25min. and computer now is back to factory settings

Hope this helps

DELL inspiron 6400 not switched on

This is a no boot issue. Youre saying that you can perfectly run the PSA diagnostics but doesnt load Windows rather it stays on black screen, meaning the boot loader of Windows failed to load. You need to reinstall windows on your computer

Hi,
1. Shut down the system, remove the battery and the Ac adapter from the computer.
2. Press the power on button for 10 seconds
3. Reinsert the battery
4. Power on the computer and as soon as you see the dell logo press the f2 key a couple of time
5. Using the up down arrow keys , go to the option that says battery info. If there is an error message listed kindly post it back

6. Otherwise shut down the computer reconnect the ac.adapter and check if the problem is solved

Also the battery has a diagnostic lights on it , remove the battery from the computer and press the button on the battery a set of lights would glow. If they are steady and come in a series the battery is good , If some lights are missing the battery is bad and may need replacement

Thanks

Touchpad

Hi Ayubehenzo,
You will need to run 32 bit dell diag's.
You would need start the pc and the tap F12 button on the Dell Logo. Select the last option diagnostics. On the option where it says that were color bars displayed type "N" once the tests are done press "N" where it says do you wanna continue the remaining memory tests. Once this is done you will get a message loading dell diagnostic utility partition. you will now need to choose the custom test and then need to run a test on the touchpad. If this still doesnt resolve your issue you will need to call Dell Technical Support.

Could you please run the diagonistics on the computer?
Turn on the computer. When the DELL logo appears, press <F12> immediately. Select Diagnostics from the boot menu and press <Enter>.
NOTE: If you wait too long and the operating system logo appears, continue to wait until you see the
Microsoft Windows desktop. Then shut down your computer and try again.
b Press and hold the <Fn> key while powering the system on.

Make a note of any errors that you get after running the diagnositcs on the computer.
