If the internal battery won't charge, then the battery is likely defective. Contact Garmin to find out your options. Whether still under warranty or not, they can usually repair it for less than the cost of replacing it. They're a good company with a good reputation for customer service.

SOURCE: Garmin C340 battery not charging

The Garmin batteries tend to die after about 2 years. Garmin will replace the battery for you but prepare to pay top dollar. It is a shame because the problem is commonplace. They should have made the replacement user friendly. The battery is buried deep inside and it is soldered.

SOURCE: Charging the battery in Nuvi 760

1) Check the cigarette lighter is working by plugging in the lighter unit and see if it gets hot. If it doesn't then it is possible the fuse has blown.

2) You can plug the unit into a PC using the USB cable and if there is a fault you will get a message on the screen about 'USB over-current' but it shouldn't damage the computer.

If it runs/charges using the PC and (1) is OK then you may have a problem with the cigarette lighter - cradle cable or a problem with the cradle itself.

Hello, Al -

Even rechargeable batteries are no longer rechargeable. I suggest you purchase a replacement battery. From a number of reviews I have found about the power station, the rechargeable battery life is about 2 years, maximum.

The battery wont charge for my lt2802u

POWER SUPPLY & BATTERY PROBLEM
If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods. When you connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's power socket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

Charging the battery

If you have a battery charger, remove the battery cover to expose the battery terminals then you can connect the battery charge to the battery.
Make sure you connect the positive lead from the charger to the positive terminal on the battery and the negative lead from the charger to the negative terminal on the battery before you power up the battery charger.
When you have finished charging the battery, power off the battery charger before you disconnect the leads from the battery.

MD781 battery wont charge...will run with the power cord plugged in, I replace the battery first thinking that may be the trouble. Still wont charge...it would run for a short while on the battery when...

Hi

Can you please try to leave laptop switched off
plug in laptop and leave until the light on front goes green or at least 2/3 hrs

then unplug power cord
switch on laptop and use it or leave it until it looses all power and switches off

then recharge until green

when battery is fully charged always un plug and use on battery power
until it reaches about 10% before recharging

some people even remove their battery to preserve it if they always use power cord

if this does not sort the problem please come back to us

many thanks
