Most of the time it's a green color jack. if not it should have a headphone by it. If you have tryed more then one set of speakers, Then try this plug the power to the speaker in to the wall and power the spearkers on turn the Volume up and tap your finger on the spearker jack it the speakers make a sound then the speakers are good if not if could be the speakers. If the speakers are good then try going to Control Panel click on Sound and Audio Devices. in the Volume tab make sure Mute is not checked and the Volume it on High. If Mute is not checked and the Volume in on high it couold be a driver. Try clicking on the Audio Tab next and make sure you sound card it selected in the frist box aka the Sound playback box most likey you sound card will have smothing to do with AC' 97. Next click on the Volume buttion and turn all the volumes all the way up see if this helps fix it. if not next we go back to Control Panel click on System click on Hardware tab then click Device Manager when it opens find a plus tabe that says Sound, video and game controllers click on the Plus sing if there's a big yellow circle with an exclamation point in it you may need to reinstall your drivers. Try clicking on the Troubleshoot frist see if it can help if not find your computer drivers on your disk or your computer maker web-site and download the drivers install them and see if this fixes your issues

What concerns me is that you have tried other speakers with no success... need to know what kind of computer you have?? Would also be helpfull to know if you have intergrated audio or if you have a sound card installed.
If it is intergrated audio, you usually will find three jacks in a row. Blue, Green and Pink. But sometimes they aren't colored at all.
Now if other speaker didnt work, were they "powered speakers"? Meaning, did you plug them into the wall first? Also, need to check and make sure your audio driver is installed. What windows are you running?

How do i hookup the what i think is the power cord to the computer its a round plug in

If it's a power cord, it doesn't plug into the computer; one end goes in the wall, the other into the speakers.

For most speaker pairs, there are 3 wires:
1) The wire that connects the speakers to each other. That's often fused into the back of the left speaker, and gets plugged into the right speaker (it's usually pretty well marked where to plug it in).
2) The wire that connects the right speaker to the computer. Usually it's pretty well marked where to plug this into the speaker. On the computer, that wire will fit into 2 ports. Usually those ports are marked with microphone and headphone icons. You want the headphone jack. If they aren't marked, try them both or check your manual.
3) The power cord. One end of that will plug into an electric outlet on the wall (or into an extension cord or power strip). The other end will plug into the right speaker; it should only fit into one hole (which will probably be marked with "12V" or "0.5A" or something like that).

It would help if you told us what kind of speakers you have, and what kind of wires you're seeing.

The green audio jack is for speaker output. If you are running the realtek audio software as part of the driver pack then you might also need to assign you speakers to the jack in the software.

HOW TO INSTALL ba265

Hook your green and orange wires off the speakers into green and orange inputs on the back of your tower. Hook the round black cable off the a/c adaptor plug into the black input on the back of the right speaker. Then plug into an outlet. There is no software for these speakers.

How do I connect external speakers

    Connecting Full-Size Speakers
  1. Step 1 Insert the red and white plugs on a set of RCA audio cables into the right and left audio "OUT" jacks on the back of the TV.
  2. Step 2 Connect the other ends of the cables to a free pair of audio "IN" jacks on the amplifier.
  3. Step 3 Strip 1/2 inch of insulation from the speaker wires, and connect a pair of wires to the left and right terminals on the back of each speaker using the red wire for the right audio connection and the other wire for the left.
  4. Step 4 Connect the other ends of the speaker wires to a pair of stereo speaker terminals on the back of the amplifier. The wires attach by raising spring-loaded clips on the back of the amp to reveal a hole for inserting each wire.
  5. Step 5 Set the amplifier selector to the set of audio jacks connected to the TV to enjoy stereo sound from the television.
  6. Connecting Self-Powered Speakers
  7. Step 1 Insert the RCA plugs on the Y adapter into the TV's Audio "OUT" jacks.
  8. Step 2 Connect the mini-plug on the wire attached to the right-hand self-powered speaker to the mini-plug jack on the Y adapter.
  9. Step 3 Plug in the audio cable and mini-plug from the left-hand speaker into the Audio "OUT" jack on the back of the right-hand speaker.
  10. Step 4 Connect the AC adapter to the power jack on the back of the right-hand speaker, then plug the adapter into an electrical outlet.
  11. Step 5 Switch on the external speakers and adjust the volume.

Speakers don't work on new computer

its most likely a driver issue make sure that when they get plugged in there is some sort of conformation either on the computer or on the speakers with a light now thats you have ensured they are getting power check both ends of the speaker wire ensure neither the wire or the inputs for the wire are damaged there should be little or no play for the wire to move after being inserted . after ensuring that it not a hardware issue(to really be thorough you could hook them up to another computer and make sure after the moving process they still work) I would suggest going to the HP website and walking through they're troubleshooting mnual if still to no avail and they are under warranty just return them for new ones

I dont know where the Dell 725 Printer Power Cord goes into the tower Which outlet on the tower

The Dell 725 printer power cord does NOT plug in to the tower. The Video Cable, on the other hand, plugs in to the tower's video output. Look for a connector like the one from the printer (often USB these days) to plug it in to the computer. There was a diagram that came with the computer that showed how to do all the connections, and the Power Cord does NOT plug in to the tower. USB connections are in various locations on your computer's tower, in the back and sometimes in the front too.

Pluging in extra usb ports/Mic and headphone jacks from the tower

Answer me this. You're case is an Antec tower? The motherboard is the Asus P4P800 SE ? Is this correct?
If you have you're manual you can see what goes where on the board for front panel connector page. 2-31. (This diagram shows you how to connect the front mic & speaker).
To connect the Antec's front USB ports plug the case USB front connectors onto USB56 & USB78 shown on page. 2-30. Most case wires are already set within their USB connectors & the Antec's front USB connector should fit right on the mother board's pin's. If you need you're user manual, download from Asus by clicking on this link. http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=P4P800%20SE&SLanguage=en-us

Good Luck!
