About the only thing you can do other than take or send your camera to a repair shop is to remove the batteries and clean the cap and contacts with a pencil eraser be careful not to damage the contact. also move the on/off switch and select knob back and forth a few times to clean the contacts. i would get a repair estimate first as there are no new parts available for this camera.

I just bought the minolta XG-A, will I be able to adjust manually the shutter speed? I just bought it only, still has not been shipped. I bought it mainly for a film photography class but I just read that...

Minolta XG-A can work in full manual mode. The lowest shutter speed is 1 second and it had Bulb mode where the shutter is open as long as you press the button.

I have a Minolta XG-A camera, and i can take a picture but the shutter is stuck?

My shutter does that when there is low light, or just slow shutter speed. You could try changing those settings, otherwise, last time mine got stuck, I loosened a screw on the bottom right under the shutter release button and the shutter just snapped back into its place.

Does the minolta xg-a have to have batteries to use the view finder? if so, what kind of batteries does it take

The XG-A requires batteries, not just for the viewfinder, but also for the shutter. It uses two alkaline A-76 (or equivalent) or two silver-oxide EPX-76 (or equivalent).

If you need an owner's manual, you can download a PDF version from http://www.butkus.org/chinon/minolta.htm

Film winder not working and no batteries

install 2-- SR44-- or 2-- S76 batteries. fire the shutter. if the shutter did not fire clean the battery holder and contacts with a pencil eraser. move or turn all the select knobs and switches a few times to remove any corrosion.

Sears ks super camera.

You'll have to remove the bottom cover. Either the mirror box or the shutter are stuck. re-cocking it is possible by moving the wind stop clear of the bottom portion of the film advance shaft.

Auto Flash 200x doesnt work ???

CoolSmith,
try a non dedicated flash unit, if the flash works then the 200X is not compatible to the xg1
if the flash did not fire, there is a circuit problem. there are no new parts for this model.

Nikon FE

TRy firing the camera in the M90 setting. If it fires properly, use the battery test switch. If the battery LED doesn't light up, replace the batteries (2 MS76 type). The FE requires healthy batteries to operate the shutter. If the meter is calling for a slow shutter speed (low light or lens cap still on?). If the batteries are good, but the shutter still won't fire normally in sufficient light, looks like you're in for a repair shop visit.
