Question about Sony Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Won't turn on even with power cord plugged in

My Sony VAIO laptop will not turn on. It was running low on battery, so I plugged it into the wall to let it charge and then turned the computer. Then, after the computer was on, the power cord fell out and the computer turned off. Now, even with the power cord plugged in, the computer won't turn on. The "power" light flashes once when the power button is pressed, but the light and the power will not come on.

By dumping the power while running you have trashed your Operating System or blown up the Ram

Insert your OS disk and see if it comes to life , if it does then you may have to try a repair from the OS installation CD

If you have popped the Ram then the only solution is to get it checked out on another PC

My new battery is not working with my Sony vaio laptop

What do you mean the new batter is not working? Does the computer turn on with the Power Cord? If not, the power cord is bad and cannot charge the battery. I have seen times when new batteries are defective. The new battery does not come charged so you have to plug in the power cord and let it charge overnight.

Laptop won't charge

You might need a new battery....you could try removing the battery, plug laptop into ac and restarting. Or you might need a new DC power jack. If you wiggle the cord where it plugs into the laptop, and it starts to charge normally, then the DC power jack needs replacing. http://www.insidemylaptop.com/take-apart-sony-vaio-vgn-s360p-replace-broken-power-jack/

How do I charge a new laptop battery for a sony pcg-fx220? Do i leave the laptop on to charge, or shut down?

Plug the power supply into the back of the laptop

Switch the power on at the wall socket and go to bed.

The machine will take care of the rest

Turn on my notebook and it goes into hibernating mode. Won't do anything and can't get it out of that mode. What can I do? Is it a virus?

If you are not plugged into the wall I would first say your battery is not charged. If it is plugged into the wall then you may have a bad power supply / cord, or try a different wall socket.

It will not turn on even when plugged into mains

A fast check to determine whether you have a problem with the power adapter, power cord or the laptop's battery is to turn off the laptop, remove the battery, connect the power adapter, turn on the laptop & see if it works.
If the laptop works directly from the power adapter with the battery removed, then the power adapter is good. In this case we can suspect that the battery is defective.

My vaio turned off suddenly an the side light was blinking when i was trying to turn it on. Now i doesn't even turn on.What should i do?

Hi There !!

Thank you for choosing fixya.com
It's could be because of two reasons.
1. The Laptop is Overheated
2. The battery of the Laptop has some problems.

To diagnose this:
Step 1: Let the computer, be turned off for 15-30 minutes. Unplug the battery, Unplug any external Hardware connected to the laptop. Could be any external drive or any thing.

Step 2: After 30 minutes of disassembling the laptop. Let's put the battery back in & don' plug the power chord. Just give it a try to turn it on without plugging it in to the power jack.

Step 3: Still no joy, Try to plug the power chord back again & try to adjust it. Because Power port detects the power cord only after much adjusting of the cord and putting a weight on top of the cord so that the cord somehow makes contact with the power port on the laptop.

This is really the case with Vaio & Acer laptop because of their complex design.

Step 4: Check the voltage of your CMOS battery. if your battery is low it will fail to power up the system. if you leave it sit for a long period of time, it may be having a chance to "recharge" itself. This step should be done by a professional, because you might damage other part of the machine .

If your computer in warranty, Call Vaio Helpline right know. And, if any chance your computer is little old dont call Vaio help line because they charge heavily. Contact the local tech shop, even for your reference http://www.compusa.com/ it's cheap & good service dealer for laptop.

Hope this'll direct you in the right direction.

Power chord problem

(1) Does the machine work with the cord plugged, if so it is the battery or the charger circuit at fault

(2) If it does not work then there is either a break in the cable where it enters the plug which plugs into the back of the laptop or the power supply has failed

Sony VIAO will no longer power on

try running it without the battery in, and only the wall charger plugged in. otherwise it sounds like it is a bad charger or possibly even battery. if this still does not fix it, then it could be that the power converter on the laptop has burned out.
