Blank screen on desktop (dell inspiron 530s); requesting a password.

My Dell Inspiron 530s was powered off for a week. When I powered it back on, the screen was blank and there's a rectangle box in the middle of the screen asking for a password.

FYI, I know this is an old posting but you don't have to go to Dell Tech Support for password reset, just reset the CMOS password jumpers inside the computer. Not a difficult task at all, refer to the owner's manual for details on opening the computer, and for resetting the jumpers. Very easy solution, had to do it myself.

Someone has turned on the BIOS password on you and therefore the PC will not let you boot up unless you enter the correct password. The problem is you cannot turn off the password option unless you know the password. I would start by asking other people who had access to you computer what they set the password to. If nobody comes clean, then you will have to call Dell Tech Support to get them to reset the password for you. They will give you a master BIOS password to override the one set and turn off the option.

Dell Inspiron 530s Desktop fan motor keeps running

It\'s NOT the fan. Check the power save settings on the computer ITSELF. Check your BIOS settings as well. Inspirons ALL do the same thing with waking up.

How do i unlock my dell keyboard?

Dell Inspiron 530s keyboard unlock
Is the keyboard usb or ps2? If its usb then try another port. If its ps2(Green) then power down the pc by holding in the power button for 8 to 10 seconds. Pull the plug and make sure no pins are bent. Plug it back in and boot back up. This should fix the problem if its ps2. Regards
