Question about Baumatic F60 Stainless Steel Kitchen Hood

Open Question

Extractor fan works, but no lights (this followed the removal of an old bulb, which broke during removal and caused a small 'bang'). Yes I know I should have isolated the unit before trying to change the bulb !) As there is power to the fan, it can't be the fuse in the switched socket .... any suggestions ? Thanks.

SOURCE: Light blown then fan doesn't work!

take out switch assemby and check if the track of the pcb is blown - caused by the bulb goiung. you can often repair by soldering in wire links. bet you have 12a fuse in system - should be 3a. track has blown instead of the fuse

SOURCE: The extractor on my Baumatic

Sounds like it was the main fan motor - that caused the lights to blow in the first place.

Isolate from supply, and get the fan motor checked out. If it is burnt out (inside) you will need a replacement.

Hope this helps.

Look at the instruction/installation manual.
Are the bulbs 12volts or 120vac? If it is 12v there is a transformer that might be shorting to ground. If no transformer, the control panel or the control board has a short.

unplug the fridge so there is no danger of electric shock, and remove the piece of socket left in there from the old bulb with a insulated pliers.. the remaining wire pieces can short out and blow the breaker in the house .i would not leave the broken bulb in there .

I have moved into a property with a Sector extractor fan in the bathroom - when you turn the light on the extractor starts up -when you turn the light off the extractor continues to run for a long time -...

On some Bathroom extractor fans there is a setting for the amount of time you want the fan to stay on after you turn off the switch, the setting dial is normally at the back of the fan so you need to take the fan down from the ceiling making sure the fan is electrically isolated.

Light bulb broke off in fan light how do I remove?

If the glass is broken and there are sharp pieces sticking out you can use the potato trick. Cut a small potato so you have a flat end, make sure the power to the fan light is turned off, and push the potato onto the broken remains. Then you can turn the potato to unscrew the base and just toss the whole thing in the trash. Wipe off the socket and you're set for a new bulb.

If the old bulb broke off clean so that only the base is left in the socket, you'll need to bend the edge of the base inward a little with a small screwdriver. Then grab the base with needle-nose pliers and unscrew it from the socket. Again be sure the power is off before working on the light.

I heard a small bang when from the engine this morning and now the battery light is continually on - do you know what that signifies please? Other symptoms, possibly conincidental. One of the indicator...

That small bang you heard was the radiator belt.It runs the alternator(battery charger)and also the water pump. The fan belt on your motor needs to be replaced NOW.Otherwise you may blow up the motor. It doesn,t take long.Hope this helps

My Bathroom Extractor Fan does not work properly and for some reason the bathroom smells of cigarette smoke when the upstairs neighbours are at home!! Our landlord say's this is not possible!!!

Yes, very possible!. The bathroom fan is connected together, and the upstairs one is down-drafting to you. Have the exhaust checked for blockage, or buy a fan that has a built-in damper that closes the exit when not in use.

Wireing a bathroom extractor fan to a three switch (fan=landing light=offswitch0

yes, if the three switches are all made together, then there is only one feed. sounds like a bad switch, or possibly bad exhaust fan. check voltage at fan with switch on, if not qualified, be careful, or call an electrician

Neff extractor fan not working

I have a similar problem with a Whirlpool oven hood. In my case the kitchen fiitters used a (UK) standard 3-pin plug to power the hood. The plug is fitted into a socket that is placed on top of the cupboards that house the hood.
I have replaced the 3 amp fuse in the plug and now the fan is working.
HOwever, the light isn't working and so I'm assuming that the bulb has blown and that this has caused the fuse to blow as well.
Now my problem is accessing the bulb so that I can replace it.
