I see the convergence option in menu but nothing changed
I have the red and blue convergence option in menu and a auto convegence option and nothing else. I tried the auto convergence option it makes a flash of green then nothing changes what could my issue be ? I have read about the possible blown fuse option to replace. I have not tried anything yet, Is the fuse route option for me and my issue??

Re: I see the convergence option in menu but nothing...
Since you have the convergence options in your menu i would figure that you do not have the common fl231 fuse problem....Now is any part of the picture good. is the picture a bow tie. if you go into red and blue manual option will the crosshairs move up and down and left and right. If you have the bowtie or push in fromtop and bottoml then the likely problem is what is call the convergence power board. if you do have some control over the crosshairs then it may be the convergence amp board. convergence is controled by three diffrent cuicit boards. if you have to replace these boards it may just may need someone like a tech to do a serivce convergence.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Enter Service mode.. Press Menu -0-1-5-7 in quick succession . From there select the convergence option. You should see 3 crosshairs -Red, Blue and Green. Green is fixed but Red and blue can be moved. Align both of them with green and see if the issue resolves. If not Try moving them around and see if the problem is cleared. If not you may have the inevitable convegence IC problem and the IC needs to be replaced. Let me know if that is the case and I will give you the procedure.
If convergence adjustment did not correct the problem likely the convergence IC's
have failed and will need to be replaced along with a few defective
resistors in that circuit. If you have never attempted TV repair this
would not be a good repair to start on.
The only way to be positive of the problem is to have the circuitry diagnosed by someone with the proper TV test EQUIPMENT to determine what parts that are no longer within specs.
check the convergance board for open pico fuses located near the stk amps if they are open the you may have a yolk problem as well. also check the blue gum for cloudy fluid this may be the reason the perfect focus got stuck. if you should get the tv to fire up go to the menu then select reset factory in the convergance menu of the customer menu. this will pull the convegance back to tollorance. the trouble is that when the convegance amps fail customers tend to perfect focus the set and each time they do the convegance memory goes further from tollorance. thus failing the ICs once again. check the pico fuses 1st this is a tell tail sign of those two conditions (yolk, or out of tollorance).
this is a lost of convegence power. first check to see if you have the convergence option in setup menu. if you do not then i suggest you read the fl231 problem in the tips and trick section. otherwise there a good chance u would have to replace convergence power supply board
convergence problems occur alot in these sets. First question you always ask is the picture bowed in at top and bottom. or even on sides. go into customer menu and go to setup. do you have convegence option. if you do not go read fl231 problem in tips and tricks. this could be simple and inexpensive. However it can also be one of three cuicit boards. Next quesiton if you got convegence option does the autoconvergence work. if not how far does it get. then if that doesnt work does manual convergence of blue and red work do the cross hair move at all. if the do or only move one way. it might be convegence amp if not then might be convergence power board.
This is what is known as convergence. a projection tube ussally has three picture tubes.. red green blue. they all have to align. the concave picture indicates complete loss of convergence or convegence power supply. First question on these sets Do you have the convergence option in the customer menu under setup. if you do not this is a indication of the common "FL231 fuse problem" and inexpensive simple repair. I have wrote and artilcle on this under my tips and trick section. If you do have the option then next does autoconvergence work. in you case i would not think it work. under blue and red manual convergence does the crosshairs move. if not then this is indication of convergence power supply board. if they move at all this may indicate a convergence amplifer problem.
You may have to clean the crt's and lenses and the mirror. Unit may need total convergence from the service menu. If image is blurred in only one area like the corner I would suggest NOT to adjust the electrical or mechanical focus.
when you go into customer menu is there and option intilted 'CONVERGENCE' if not this is a indication of a blown special fuse called fl231. there should be three options in this autoconvergence red convegence and blue convergence see if anything happens on these it may need a service convergence
This is a indication of what is known as a convergence problem. this tv has three projection tubes and all the tubes must converge to the same spot on the screen. The first question that needs too be asked is in customer setup menu do you have the convergence option. if not it is a special fuse called fl231. and lt the repair is not all that dificult if you can get the fuse and can solder. if you have this option try autoconvergence option first. then try both red and blue convergence. if the crosshairs move at all then may be a cuircit board called the convergence amp. if not then it may be a convegence power board.
your set has indications of several problems. red green and blue. indcate convegence issue. the fact that the picture is concave is a indication of totall loss of covergence power supply. the convegence menu missing idicate loss of some voltages from what know as the flyback.AND SHUTDOWN. indicate further problems. generally when convergence fails ..not always the set wont shut down. it could be a simple issue but further trobleshooting would have to occur to narrow it down.
