Re: Power button won't turn off monitor

Well, I noticed this after I installed win xp sp3. My monitor won't turn offwhen I click the button. I have to set my power setting to a certain timeframe then require a relogin but the monitor just won't turn off otherwise.

My computer works normally but my monitor suddenly turns dark. I try to turn off the power (monitor) and when I turn it on back, it turns to normal. but few minutes later, the problem goes back. This...

Does this happen when you leave your computer idle for few minutes? If so,then the Pc is
simply turning off your monitor to save power when you don't use it.And you can turn it back
on simple by hitting keys on your keyboard or moving the mouse to and fro. However if you
would like to disable/change this option the please do the following.

If you are using Win XP,then

1.Click the windows Start button, then click Control Panel, click Performance And Maintanance
and then click Power Options.

From the window that opens, choose the time period after which you would like your monitor to
get into power saving mode (the default is 5 mins) or choose 'Never' from the drop down box
next to where it says 'Turn off monitor'.Then click the apply button and finally the ok button.

If you are using Win 7 or Vitsa, the please follow the following link to learn how to disable this option.

The power switch does not switch (no click)

Unplug the monitor from the power
Unplug the monitor from the computer
Plug the monitor back in.
Try turning it on.

DOES IT SAY "NO SOUCRE DETECTED" or soemthing like that???

if it DOESN'T it means there is something wrong with the computer.

if it DOES:

plug it back on to the computer, turn the computer power off.
Press and hold the power button on the computer for about 15 seconds.
Plug the computer back on.
Try turning the computer on.
if it's not turning on again there a problem either with your monitor cable, or the plug, or the video card plug. It is unlikely that your video card is broken if you hear no wired series of short and long beeps when you try turning the computer on.
Good luck.

CLick start/run then type in dxdiag. Go to the display tab and click test dirext3d. There should be an 3d cube that comes up and spins around. After the cube leave cancel everything else and close dxdiag, Your problem should be solved for a pretty long time. If it happens again just follow the steps again.

Won't turn on

This is a problem with either the power supply or or logic circuit. It could also be caused by a failure in the back light circuits. One of these problems has caused the power supply to go into protection mode and will not turn on due to bad voltages sensed in the feedback circuits. Return to dealer for service. Hope this helps you .
