Question about Dynex (TE685AVR) UPS System

Dynex Te685avr backup battery doesnt work

I have owned a Dynex surge protector (model Te685avr) for almost 6 years now. Two days ago I was out of the house and we lost power for an hour. When I came back my computer had shut down. What I assumed happened is that while I was gone my backup power on the Dynex surge protector ran out. The problem I have now is the 3 outlets on the side that are powered by "backup power" don't work. I have unplugged all the cords going into the unit for a whole day to charge the unit but I still cant get the outlets on the "backup" side of the surge protector to work. The 3 outlets on the otherside work just fine, but they are not backed up with power. Any suggestions to get the other 3 to work, they have no power running to them? I have a Dynex 800 u UPS and the battery side of the device has no power but the surge side does. I think the battery inside of the unit needs to be replaced but have no idea where I would find one because Dynex no longer supports this unit. Any help would be great.

The sealed batteries in these last about 6 years. You are correct in thinking that you may need a new one. Very easy to install. Here's a supplier of these: http://www.batteryinternational.com/dynex-te685avr-ups-battery-ups-batteries-f1.html

It is probably a bad battery. They usually don't last much longer than 2-3 years. You could try replacing the battery, but I would suggest just replacing the whole UPS with a new model.

Yes you right you can just use it as surge protector, but it would be better if you gonna buy a battery for that unit aleast you got a back up in the event of power outage.

Dynex Te685avr backup battery doesnt work

If the battery outlets do not work, typically the Dynex TE685AVR UPS (battery backup) just needs a new battery. These batteries usually last 3-5 years.

The model of the battery is a WKA12-7.5F2 and can be purchased at: http://www.replacementupsbattery.com/Product_pages/wka12-75f2.html.

You need to replace the battery in your UPS. I went to the mfg. to find your model but i was unable to find the model you had posted. You should be able to take the battery out and go to a retail place like battery plus to get the battery you need. If not you may be able to get it from the manufacturer. After replacing the battery you should fine. Here is a link to the web site.

The battery plug in area is dead but the surge protector side works

Hello Vicki,

What you are describing is usually a result of the batteries losing their ability to hold a charge.

The surge protector side does not rely on the batteries.

I found good batteries at a reasonable cost on ebay, but I think you're going to need to replace batteries at this point.

Hope this helps.
