Question about Creative Labs ZEN Vision:M Digital Media Player

1 Answer

Creative Zen Vision M

I wanted to use this device without the front end software so that it would just show in Windows Explorer as drive (like a any other Flash/USB drive). I uninstalled the software however it will still not show as a drive on this computer. It know it is possible to see it in Explorer because when I plug into another PC that has never had the Creative software loaded on it, it immediately loads as drive and is accessible via its drive letter in the normal way.  Obviously there are traces of the Creative software left on this PC that are preventing it from being viewable in Explorer. I have already done both file/folder and registry searches using the following keywords "creative", "zen" and "vision m" deleted all found. There must still be something left (most likely a registry key) that is blocking it - any ideas please?

Hi Thanks for your reply, but I dont think you get what I mean. When I go to a friends house I just plug my Zen into his usb and bing bong, my zen appears in his "my computer" view along with all the other drives. I can then click on it open it browse the folders in it, copy my music to him, copy his to my zen, all by dragging and dropping. I do not have to use any special software to do this, and I always used to do this on my own PC too, its the way I prefer to use my zen, and this is exactly why I bought a creative zen, and not an Ipod !
My pc crashed last month, and I had to have a new drive, when it came back to me the zen would not work, it still does on anybody else's pc, as described. I could not remember if I had had to load a driver or something for it, so I ran the creative disc, and of course all I could do then was to use the bspoke software. Now even after uninstalling The Creative Software as described above and going through the registry deleting all the folders left behind, I still cannot get my zen to appear as it always used to. I do not want to use the Creative special software.
    Help !

    Thanks for that,

I typed The windows key + E like it says, and then I was stuck, you see the drive I want to edit (Zen) is not showing up, that is the fundamental problem, so I cant right click on it and edit the menu

Either try changing the "Auto-Load" function - preventing creative from taking charge of it OR your windows needs update to support the device as a flash drive.

My creative zen m is not showing up on my laptop when i hook it up it don't show up at all i download the zen thing for it just not showing up

Sometimes, for reasons unknown, one setting changes in the Zen Media Explorer. If you can't see your Zen, But can see your media explorer, open it and then click on the tools tab. You should see a checkbox saying, "show my player as portable device". Re-check this box, close and re-open my computer and it should be there.

How do I download a DVD I own onto my Creative Zen Vision: M? I have tried several times without success.

There are many products that can convert video into the proper format and some can be easy to use. The best free software I have found is AutoGK.

There are presets available using the interface, and it can be a bit complicated when you are viewing the raw VOB files on the DVD, but for free quality its my favorite.

For purchasable software I recommend Cucusoft Ultimate DVD + Converter Suite, Its easy to use and does a great job.

You can manually drop your properly coded videos into your Creative Zen Vision M video folder by opening/browsing your zen with windows explorer. Specifications for what video format you need can be found here.

Creative zen not reconised

What you might want to try is to connect the USB cable to the device and an open port on your PC and let it charge and see if after it has a full charge if you can power it on without having any other problem. Or if after it has a full charge if it is recognized by your PC as a connected device. If it has a full charge and recognized by your PC you should be able to use it without having any problem. Another solution is to download the updated firmware software, run the firmware update check your device and see if the display shows the Creative Labs logo if so you are in the clear and it should work without any other action needing to be taken on your behalf

C cover art does not transfer to my zen vision m, only the music tracks transfer

for more details

Creative ZEN players do not currently support album art from Rhapsody version 4.0.
Album art is either embedded in a track, or exists as a thumbnail image in a separate file, allowing one album art file to be associated with an album. Currently, Rhapsody only supports album art embedded in the track. Future versions of Rhapsody are expected to support thumbnail versions.
Creative Media Explorer or Windows Media Player 10 or 11 can be used to transfer music purchased from Rhapsody to a player with album art included.

Album Art is supported by Creative ZEN, Creative ZEN V Plus, ZEN V, Vision:M and ZEN Vision players.
The ZEN Vision (PF1150) requires a firmware update for Album Art. You can download the updated firmware:
If you experience any difficulty transferring Album Art with Windows Media Player 10 or 11, to ZEN Vision:M, delete WMPInfo.xml (see below), and then transfer the tracks again.

It won't transfer my zen vision M songs from my computer

I've been able to solve the problem I had with transferring files to my Zen Vision M.

I uninstalled all components of Media Source 5 and Zen Vision M Series Explorer on my PC. I then reinstalled them again. I also rolled back to Windows Media 10 (as I recently upgraded to v 11) and unchecked Sync with Zen Vision M in tools/options/devices on WM player. I then run the Clean up in recovery mode on the Zen. When the PC restarts after the installation of the software it will ask for you to connect the player. The PC should now successfully transfer files to the player.

Hope it works for you too.
