Question about Scholastic I Spy Parents Guide for Windows, Mac

Can older games be used on newer iMac?

I have some games that were given to me for my grandkids. I have an iMac that we purchased last year: OS X version 10.5.2 with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2.8 GHz. Can I install these games for the kids: I Spy Spooky Mansion that states it needs a PowerPC 76 MHz or faster and a system 7.5 or later? The other two are: Active Mind Series Math Workshop Deluxe which also indicates it requires a Power Mac system 7.1.2 or higher and SIM Farm SimCity's Country Cousin which lists the Plus, Classic Series, SE Series, LC Series, II Series, Quadra Series, Centris, Performa, Portable and Powerbook Series withe system 7.0 or higher. I realize they are older games and I do not want to try to install them or even open them if there will be a problem or if they will not work. Please let me know. My e-mail is cdiane.lane@gmail.com. I would appreciate any assistance you may offer.

I know for mac's it is a bit different.. on PC you can play an older game no problem but for some reason on mac you cannot?

I have a Macbook, and i tried to play Diablo 2... Yes very old game .. but since i was on mac OS 10.5 + ... the CD would not read.... if it was a pretty popular game there might be a newer download or patch you can install so that it will work but other then that i dont think you can.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I am running OS X 10.4.11 and would like to upgrade my operating system?

Please provide more information.
To what would you like to upgrade it?

Since OSX Mavericks was just announced, I'm going to assume that's what you're wanting to upgrade to.

Not all Macs can run Mavericks.

Mavericks Capable Macs

Mavericks, like its predecessor Mountain Lion, requires one of the following Macs with at least 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of available hard drive space:
  • iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
  • MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
  • MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
  • MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
  • Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
  • Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
  • Xserve (Early 2009)

If your Mac isn't one of the ones listed above, you won't be able to upgrade.

If you have an iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, or Mac mini model that was originally released in Early/Mid 2006, the latest version of Mac OS X your system supports is Snow Leopard.

Why has my old scrabble has gone?

I have asked myself the same thing when an occasional app has seemingly disappeared. Sometimes the game/app has been upgraded and the older computer (or OS) can no longer handle the specs of the newer product, so it is simply removed. Or sometimes certain vital components are removed. Contact the company from which you purchased this item... and GOOD LUCK!

I would like to know if an older hard drive from imac model A1076 could be installed in a slightly newer imac, model A1145 and have it be compatible and working with no problems?

Hard drives are universal, and based on physical connection / type. So your older HD should work even if you have newer SATA connection. The connection is backwards compatible.

I have a original game PGA Tour 96, EA for windows 95. I want install this game in XP SO, but its impossible for me.

I assume you meant to say XP OS.
Many older games are not compatible with the newer operating systems.
Use your old computer with the Windows 95 operating system installed.
If you REALLY want to use the game, find an older Windows 95 computer
and buy it.

Is it ok for me to connect my ps3 to a plasma television to play video games

If your plasma is newer then about 3 or 4 years ago, AND! it's had a proper break in, then no... no worries at all... You might get a little image retention, but it'll go away after a couple hours... If it's a new plasma, make SURE you have given it a proper break-in (about 200 hours of non-static images)... FWIW... I have a panasonic TH-42PHD6UY that I use for all my gaming (except PS3 cause my LCoS set is 1080p and plasma isn't), and have used it ONLY for gaming for about the last 2 or 2 1/2 years... I've NEVER had a problem with burn-in....

its just warning you that the hub is sapping too much power from the imac, newer hubs are only a couple of $$ and are much more power efficient, try somewhere like dealextreme.com
