Question about Homelite Mighty Lite Lawn Trimmer

Starter on trimmer wont retract

Homelite Mighty Lite trimmer. Went to start it and when I pulled the started handle, it stayed out and the started cord did not recoil. Can I take off the cover to loosen tension to let it recoil? Any help would be great. Thanks!

I'm sorry to tell you this, you have to take take the hole recoil apart.either the spring is broken or the dog that holes the spring is not engaged.to fix it you have to take it apart.restring the rope, make sure the dog is catching the spring, rotate the recoil rotor to tension the spring, retie the handle and reinstall the recoil as an assembly.hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions...........

I have a Homelite UT21947 Mighty Lite and the stater pull is stuck. It will not retract.

This is somewhat common in the the "zip start" machines. The recoil pulley is 2 plastic housings with a round coil spring between them. It is designed to need less effort to pull and start the machine. When pulled on with great effort/frustration, the middle spring bends and damages the upper housing. The only semi-permanent solution is to replace the pulley assembly. The part is relatively cheap thru Homelite.com. If you can do it yourself, go for it. A repair shop will most likely charge you $20 to $40 in labor to do this.

Hello, my mighty lite 26 ss weed waker is broken. The starter cord will not retract. it stays out and I am unable to start the engine. what is the problem and how do i fix it? thank you

You will have to disassemble the unit to that point and inspect the recoil pulley (rope coils on it) and the ratchet mechanism under it and the recoil spring that draws the rope back in.

Homelite weedeater pull cord wont retract once ive pulled on it to start

you will need to remove starter cover & boom assy ,
sounds like either the rewind spring is broken or the pulley has split at the base of pulley or the starter pawls are bent / jamming , check that the centre pivot if this unit uses this type is not binding , pulley should be free , check the pulley is not damaged ?
either way once cover is off you should be able to see the problem
check the lugs that secure the pulley to the cover if unit has 3 lugs that secure to the cover ?

replacement parts should be available reassemble and test

cheers hope it helps paul

Homelite mighty lite wont stay running

the problem is in the carburetor most likely, it may be cleaned and adjusted, if not it will likely need a new carb

Hello I need the homeleit 26cs mighty lite manual, the starting coard wont retract

This would be caused by the starter pulley separating and jamming on the flywheel, In most cases it would cost more to fix these machines than it would be to replace them. Unless of course its under warranty then just take it back for a repacement.

Pull cord stays out, won't retract. I took apart

the end of the spring may be broking you can fix it by taking it out and heat it with a small fire until it is red hot and bend it

Cord does not retract but stays out when pulled. Motor not running. How do i get this fixed on the Home lite which is just one year old.

in most cases it will cost nearly as much to fix these cheap and nasty machines than it does to replace them
