Question about Samsung HC-P4752W 47" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

The problem started about 3years ago. The red, green, and blue colors are off. Someone told me that the STK chips are going bad, so I ordered 2 STK392-010 chips. Just this week I replaced the STK Chips, and no difference at all. Can someone help me find out what is wrong. I have the same problem. Did anyone fix there's. How?

Thank you for your response. I dont know why my problem was worded the way it was the forst time. I have actually not done anything to repair my TV. I have been told that it is a convergence issue. The colors and picture are distorted. Would this be the problem. How do i fix it. Where is the best place to get parts. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

There are three main reasons that convergence can still be inoperable after replacing the convergence amps. One, when the amps failed they blew the fuses protecting the power supply from shorts. Two, when the amps failed the yoke return biasing resistors burned open. And Three the Digital Convergence Unit has failed. Once things have gotten to this point it is usually time to have a professional have a look at the set.

Ok, lets start fresh. The overwhelming majority of these colored ghost problems are fixed with replacing the convergence output IC's. To locate some online just Google STK392-040. You need to replace both of them. The 040 is an improved version of the amps you have in your set and have a higher current rating. Just remember that although over 90% of the time the outputs are all that are needed sometimes the problem can get more complicated. Good luck

    Yes, they are both STK392-040.

To much blue shade in picture

You may need to replace your STK chips in your convergence board. I just replaced mine due to ghosting. Seems to me asd anything that affects your picture quality is caused by bad STK chips. I purchased mine on ebay with a soldering iron solder and a solder ****** braid and paid 30.00 which includes shipping! Took less than an hour. The auction was for the STK392-010 but they had mentioned a 040 chip in the listing in error and sent me both sets. The STK392-040 is a better chip and works perfectly with my HC-P4752W. I had never soldered an electronic part in my life. I am an electrician and a plumber and master install tech. buy the chips. while they are being shipped to you, look at YOUTUBE for videos of soldering and desoldering using braid. You will get a good idea at what you need to do to fix tv! Also look for anything related to the convergence board for this model on YOUTUBE. Sorry so long but want to help as much as I can!

I have a Samsung HC-P4752W and see yellow and bllue halos.

Have you tried to use the convergence function on the TV? If that has not fixed this issue then you have bad convergence IC chips. These chips are microprocessors that align the blue and red tubes with the green (which is stationary). This converges the three tubes to create the image that you see. Failure of these chips (usually from heat over time) is a common problem with projection  TVs. The chips are not very expensive; from $35-60 for the pair. Replacing them involves some tedious desoldering of the old ones and soldering in the new ones. If you have some experience with electronics and soldering it is not hard. Shops will charge $300 and up for this repair. If you want to do it your self post a comment bnack here and I can assist you further.

My hcp4752 started smelling hot now the colors are

It looks like you have a problem on your convergence panel. Look for burned resistors near the STK-* IC's. One or more of the STK-* IC's may be bad. When the resistors get hot they smell but so do the IC's. You can replace the bad parts or you should be able to replace the entire panel then go thru a convergence alignment.

Can't adjust blue lines on grid for convergance

I would take a look at the entire circuit board the STK chips are sitting on... I have the same problem with a sony KP-57wv700 and it turned out to be the high voltage controller for the crts got fried... part # BA9759F and it can not be replaced as the entire circuitry around it got toasted also... I just ordered entire circuit board. mine was the D board in this case...

BTW, did you check or replace the pico fuses? 3 orange ones on each STK circuitry. Check their resistance with an ohm gage should show continuity. My case they were 3.15 A each...

Convergence Problem inSamsung HC-P4752W 47" Rear Projection

One of the convergence output IC's has burned out and needs to be replaced. If the IC opens up inside then it stops working without blowing any fuses or resistors. The IC should be replaced and the set realigned by someone with experience in convergence circuits.
