Question about Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer
We had a storm the other night and now my copy light and alarm lights are lit....the alarm light is steady orange and I cannot get it to perform any functions.....I have power cycled many times....any ideas on solutions? I would appreciate any help I can get. Yes me too ever since I changed my refilled Black cartridge PG41 from Cartridge World. Went home, put in Black color into the IP1700 printer, orange alram light kept blinking 5 times n green once.Tried restarting my cpu n printer twice and it is just disallowing me to do anything! Hey U crazy Printer, go to work now!

The solution above does not work. It only lights up when you remove the ink tank completely and re-click it down. But the moment you close the lid the head slides to the side and that is when something bad happens and the ink tank is no longer lit up. I can push very hard on the PUSH and it does not light up again. I am about to return my printer as well for the same exact problem. Unfortunately, I mail ordered mine so I guess I'm out the shipping and handling charges.

First take a smooth cloth or cotton
take a cleaning liquid like spirit, thinner etc., (note - not cleaners)
clean the golden chip with out giving much presser
in the same way clean the other side of the printer also

I have similar problem. I found this solution that may help you. My problem insists tho.
>>> 5 flashes indicates a faulty printhead or possibly a problem with the p/head contacts. Try removing the head which is easier if you take the cartridges out first(no tools required) and re-seat it having checked the contacts for dirt.
If that doesn't work it may be that the waste ink tank is full. Try this ...
Canon S9000, S300, S400, i550, i560, i850, i860, i865, i9100, i9950, PIXMA iP3000 above,
1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal.
