Question about Sony Micro Vault Pro USD-2G (SONYUSD2G) 2 GB Hard Drive
The storage device was working fine since I bought it 1-2 years ago. Now my computer or several other that I have tried, will not read the device. The blue light on the device is on, but under "my computer", there is no icon for the device. i have the exact same problem. a box sometimes comes up saying that my device can perform faster but no matter which usb port i plug it into it won't recognise it. i really need help with this all my work and personal stuff is on it!

Hi, This usually means the USB controller has failed, however it can also be a damaged driver or registry entry on the computer it's connected to. Try connecting it to another PC, let me know wether or not it works. If it does we need to address the problem on your computer, if it doesn't I'll refer you to an appropriate recovery center, if the latter is the case let me know your city and country/state. I will recommend an appropriate recovery facility. Chris

This is strange as usualy these are quite reliable. It may have crashed.
If your computer is the problem then it will show in the below areas
If you are using Windows go to "control panel/ aministrative tasks/ computer management/ disc management. This will show if the disc is recognised on the system.
if not try :-
the same (control panel / administrative tasks/ computer management / device manager/ universal serial bus controller.
This will see if the card is working.
if not then the card may have been pulled out of your friends computer whilst still working. This may have caused a error on the card rendering in unusable.
Hopefuly your 4gb has not crashed.
Hope this helps

SOURCE: On my sony microvault pro
Your Flash drive unit may be full and also the electronics to the board that communicate the read/write may be damaged or not functioning at all.
2. you can try to format the drive
3. I suggest a new replacement.
4 the message was not noted so I assume it is a " device cannot be found"
