Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook

1 Answer

Not enough resources to to use AIRCARD 881

I am working on a Dell Latitude d600, the woman is trying to use a Sierra Aircard 881 for internet access. when the card is inserted it comes up with an error in Device manager saying rgw device can not find enough free resources that it can use (Code 12). it shows the location as PCI bus 3,device 0, function 0. I have tested the card in another laptop and it works fine but I don't have another card to test the slot with. I have updated xp and all drivers.

I have tried resolving the conflict manually, I've disabled most every device that can be disabled. So far everything I have tried keep resulting in the same conflict but It will not tell me what other device it is conflicting with.

I think I've pretty much determined that the PCMCIA SLOT CAGE is damaged.

  • johnscomprep Jun 03, 2009

After talking with the owner of the laptop, she told me that the pcmcia card had been left in the slot. I pulled the cage out and reseated, put it all back together and it's working perfectly.

Thank you for the help :)

Hi there.
Code 12 This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. (Code 12)Cause

This error can occur if two devices that are installed on your computer have been assigned the same I/O ports, the same interrupt, or the same Direct Memory Access channel (either by the BIOS, the operating system, or both). This error message can also appear if the BIOS did not allocate enough resources to the device.

Recommended resolution

You can use the Troubleshooting Wizard in Device Manager to determine where the conflict is, and then disable the conflicting device.

Disable the conflicting device

  1. On the device Properties dialog box, click the General tab.
  2. Click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard. The wizard asks you some simple questions and provides a solution to your problem based on the answers that you provide.
  3. Follow the resolution steps provided by the wizard to resolve the problem.
Good Luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

Download and install Sprint's SmartView. Select the download for your computer's operating system. Follow the installation wizard's prompts to properly install SmartView. The aircard should be connected to the computer during installation.

Restart the computer. Leave the aircard connected during the restart.

Double-click on the Sprint SmartView icon on the desktop.

Wait for the program to initialize and recognize the aircard, then click "Connect." Sprint SmartView should activate the aircard automatically.

Open a browser window to access the Internet.

I use sierra aircard 881 wireless modem with dell latitude D6400 with xp. But the my modem not detected

You might have to go in and configure a wireless connection for the Sierra--though i didn;t have to.

I use the Sierra 881 usb connect. when i initially plugged it into my Dell Latitude, it configured itself--though there was communication software that set it all up. Google it for setup--there's newer software out form Sierra that is equivalent to the AT&T communication manager software for the 881.

No internet access with air card

Before you go to your friend's, download the Watcher program from Sierra wireless onto a cd. And install it instead of the AT&T Connection MGR.

For random disconnects and difficulties signing on with ATT Communications Manager

download the watcher program @

The new at&t aircard 881 brings up a blue screen on my computer, something is interfering with its installation..

After 3 days filled with hours on the phone with AT&T, the internet, and then 2 hours with Dell, the Dell people told me that my Dell computer is not compatible with the new 881 Aircard. I have to take it back and order a refurbished older model 875U off the internet. AT&T should have a list of imcompatible computers before they sell it to you and put you through days of frustration! My IBM ThinkPad from work won't work with it either. I am on my son's Compaq now, works fine with it. What a mess it was. I hope the refurbished one works! MK Smith
