Charge the battery fully, then set it outside in clear view of the open sky. it may take as much as 30 minutes to acquire the sats if that fails, try and leave it out longer...does it appear to try and link to ANY sats. on the map screen in the top righ t corner is a icon with bars in it, tap that and you should see it trying to acquire sats. if not, you might have other problems

Magellan Roadmate 1412 won't track satellites

It might mean that the signal is disrupted. Might be a software glitch. Try going outside, get a clear view of the sky. Then reboot/reset the unit. Hold the switch to the reset position or off position for 10 seconds, it will shut off. then switch it back on. It should reacquire a signal within 2-5 minutes, then it will fix on your position. If that doesn't work, try updating your software. Call Magellan Tech Support for instructions.

If this unit has an internal battery it may be bad, other wise I would reload the software or get a updated version of the operating software. Have you contacted Magellan?

DOES NOT PICK UP THE SATELITTE SIGNAL

Sorry but you most likely have a major component failure in the GPS + ANT on the motherboard. If the unit is under warranty send to Magellan.

run the update again..if it wont take it or wont see the 4040, it gets a little hairy to get them running again, but it can be done.

Loss of signal

Leslie, Not updating your GPS isn't going to cause signal loss. Push the options key, go to configuration, then to diagnostics, scroll down.. select reset gps. it will say it takes 5 min. to relocate.. etc. see if that fixes it. If it doesn't fix then when you restart your unit and the user menu appears. Press "-" key and "repeat" button at the same time.. then select clear gps user data or.. user data gps... something to that nature.. Hope this works out for ya. -Dan
