Phillips Wireless Router Installation issue

On Windows XP I have tried to install a phillips 802.11g wireless router ADSL2/2 modem router.
On installation it seemed to halt halfway through and advised no connection even though I have entered my ISP details.
I am speaking third party at the moment and until I see the actual installation I have no further info.
I just wondered if the phillips has any known issues during installation. It is supposed to be a 3 click installation and connect.

You must check the physical connection first. Make sure your computer is connected to the ethernet port of the router in setting it up.

Trying to hook up 2wire modem to internet provider?

there is a cd-less install or Greenlight technology in it. it will automatically startup once you open a browser, (preferably IE. However, if you don't see it, try pushing the reset button at the back of the unit for 30 sec. open IE, then you will see the installation page.

NOTE: make sure you know what your username and password is... for authentication purpose...

I have DI-604 in line between Windows Vista computer and cable modem. Works fine. Bought DIR-615 (wireless). Several places instructions say, ""Insert the DIR-615 CD into computer and click Install Router....

Contrary to the many warnings not to install the router before starting the installation with the CD, I got the installation to complete only AFTER I installed the router inline thusly:

1. Power everything off.
2. Remove DI-604.
2. Install and connect 615 router to computer and to modem.
3. Apply power to router and modem.
4. Apply power to computer and wait until Windows loads.
5. Insert 615 installation CD.
6. Follow the directions.

As is typical with PC's, the best idea sometimes is to reset it to factory default. Afterward, simply change the username/password and in the wireless settings enable a form of WPA security settings. Don't use WEP, it's too easy to crack (within minutes) by someone sitting outside your home in their car. Never hurts to reset the cable/dsl modem either (unless your wife is talking to her mother and you disconnect her).

Do you just want to add the WinVista compute to the wireless network?

You can try this steps

1. Make sure that the wireless switch is on, on the WinVista laptop.
2. At the bottom right handside of your screen where you have the time look for the two computer icon, right click it and go to connect to a network. On the screen that will pop-up you will see the wireless networks around you. Just select your network and connect to it.

Just reply to this post in case you will still have a problem.

Wireless router compatability

I think yo should do this first before replacing:

To reset the router to factory defaults, connect the Ethernet cable to the router and check and set the settings.

This should allow you to get into the routers menu and see status and information to help you.

You also have to be sure whether or not you have 'allow windows to manage my wireless connection' checked or not
(In you Network setting)

Let me know what happens after that & I'll be glad to help
