My car wont start and my anti theft light blinks fast when I turn the ignition. How can I reset it? 1997 Ford Expedition. Drove it to store & back, worked fine. Went to start again & wouldn't. Anti-theft light blinking. Had locksmith come out & reprogram master key. Still wouldn't work. Locksmith said something wrong with either ECC or PATS System. Mechanic has checked it and not sure. Wants approval for 4 more hours of diagnostic to figure. Wouldn't mind just disabling anti-theft system, but they won't do it.
Try using a spare key first
at this point i think the dealership is your best choice

If you have a key fob to lock your doors you can do the following, insert key into ignition, turn it on to acc and off a total of 8 times quicklyyour doors will lock and unlock and reset system, but you have to push the disarm button on your key after for it to work. If no key fob, then you will need to have someone with a code scanner completely reset your ECC. I hope this works for you,

Unfortunately don't have spare key. Locksmith didn't think problem is with key??? Also already tried disconnecting from battery for 15 minutes & reconnecting. And tried different battery.
Is there any other ways to enable the anti theft system after changing ignition tumbler and key on a 1997 sun fire besides for the on for 10 or 12 mins
Then off and repeating three times because this is not working for me please help if you can thank you
