How to enter boot menu on IBM thinkpad x41? I am trying to start with usb

Restart your computer with the USB drive connected, and press the blue "Access IBM" button on your keypad. Select "Startup Utility" and go to "Boot Order." Change "USB Device" to "Primary," save changes and exit. When your system reboots, it should boot from the USB drive.

Forgot username and password for IBM thinkpad x41

Back up your most important data to an external storage device in case anything goes wrong while changing the BIOS settings. Remove any disc that is currently inserted in the IBM Thinkpad X41's disc drive.
2-Shut off the Thinkpad X41 laptop. Turn the laptop back on and wait for the "To interrupt normal startup, press the blue Access IBM button" message to appear on the screen.
3-Tap the blue Access IBM button at the top of the keyboard. Click the "Access BIOS" button when the "Rescue and Recovery" menu appears.
4-Click "Yes" and wait for the BIOS to load. Type in the current BIOS password for the IBM X41 and press Enter.5-Navigate over to the IBM's "Security" heading by tapping the right arrow key twice. Scroll down to the "Supervisor Password" listing and press "F5."6-Type the IBM's current BIOS password and hit Enter. Leave the next field blank if you want to completely remove the BIOS password, or instead type in a new password to replace the old one. Press Enter.7-Press "Escape" and then highlight "Restart" and press F5. Navigate to "Save changes and Restart" and press Enter.

IBM Thinkpad x41 tablet does not go past the ibm boot logo at startup. BIOS does not open or any of the other options at startup. What should i do ?

If you have the machine on a dock of any sort, remove it from the dock.

If that doesn't help, try taking out the hard drive. See:

    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-54584

    for instructions.

If you get past that screen, put the hard drive back in. If you're stuck in the same place, you may have a bad drive. If it boots. . .great!

I have a ibm thinkpad x41 i can not access it due to a password on it i need help to get rid of it and put it back to defult

If it's a "Power up" password this can be removed by briefly dosconnecting the cmos battery from the system board. If it is the "Supervisor" password either send to Lenovo for replacement system board and hard drive (not covered under warranty) or send to me and I will return unlocked :-) fixmythinkpad@btinternet.com Regards Paul

    Audio drivers

Try from Lenovo themselves at: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-54078.html#audio

They have Windows Vista drivers, you'll have to install and see if they work.

    Afternoon,

    I hope this helps?

To recover the hard disk to it's original contents, do the following:

    Note:

    1. If the optical drive is not attached to your ThinkPad computer during recovery, DVD software and CD-recording software will not be installed. To ensure that they will be installed correctly, attach your ThinkPad computer to the X4 Dock and install the optical drive in the Ultrabay Slim before performing a recovery ioperation.

    2. The recovery process might take up to 2 hours.

Attention: All of the files on the primary hard disk partition (usually drive C) will be lost in the recovry process. However, before any data is overwritten you will be give the opportunity to save one or more files to other media.

Power the computer using the AC adapter and ensure a fully charged battery is installed before proceeding.

    1. If possible, save all your files and shutdown your operating system.

    2. Turn off the computer for at least 5 secounds.

    3. Turn on your computer. Watch the display carefully. While the message. "To inturrupt normal startup, press the blue Access IBM button" is displayed at the lower left of the screen, press the Access IBM button. The Rescue and Recovery workspace opens.

    4. Click Restore your system.

    5. Click Restore my hard drive to the original factory state and then click Next.

    6. Follow the instructions on the screen.

    7. When the recovery process finishes, press the Enter key. Your computer will restart with the pre-installed operating system, drive, and software.
