Question about D-Link DWL-G 710 AirPlusG 2.4Ghz Wireless Range Extender (DLINKDWL710)

1 Answer

Looking to access a copy of owner's manual for dlink/ehome eh 100 and/or to get help setting security.

Have lost owner's manual and am looking to access a copy. Otherwise, I'd be looking for instructions for setting up security for an ethernet connected laptop. Router is connected to a motorola cable modem.

Hi,
Here's a link to the DLink website were the instruction manual is located. You'll need to find your exact model number on the page I've provided, then you'll need to pick the exact model version (instructions are provided on the website) and then you can download the Product Manual from the link on the left side.

I was given a dlink dir 625 router with no installation cd or manual. how can i set it up and make it secure?

Get the install wizard from http://www.dlink.com/support/, but here are the highlights of what needs to be set:

Wireless Router settings:

It is usually easiest to run the install wizard, which you can get from the manufacturers' website, usually for free, but be sure to be ready to set the items listed below:

To get access, start your browser, and put 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1, or other address for your unit, into the ADDRESS bar (not search box) of your Internet Browser. Every unit has unique access login and passwords, some are admin with no password, some are admin and admin...seek access information from the website of the manufacturer of your unit. Look under support, downloads, drivers or similar sounding areas.

Things to set:

(Note: Routers are intended to be set by geeks. You have to SAVE EVERY page before you leave it, or the changes will be lost. A geek knows this (apparently). The router gives no protest...just dumps your changes. SAVE OFTEN.)

1. Login password (RECORD THIS!!). Consider taping to bottom of the router. Physical access is typically NOT the security issue.

2. Set a recognizable system ID (descriptive name is easier to find when you need to connect wirelessly).

3. Invoke wireless security of at least WEP.

a. Assign your own access code, 10 digit home or cell #. Consider taping this information to bottom of the router. (Physical access is usually not the security issue.)

4. Check that your router is set to broadcast its' presence.

5. Change the channel of the wireless to 11, and avoid conflict with landline cordless phones. (Big issue, even the neighbors can interrupt).

There are more secure settings available, all the way down to only allowing certain MAC addresses to have access. A MAC address is a digit unique to each and every network card. Like a fingerprint. Most users do not set mac address limits.

I have lost my disk and need to program a password, due to nieghbours using my wireless. How do I do this

Hi evan,

Basically you don't need a CD if you want to change the password or put a password on the network all you need to do is to access the Wireless Settings Page of the Router and put or change the Network Key. To access your router you need a working computer connected to the router then open a Browser then type 192.168.0.1. the Username is admin and the password is blank. Go the the Wireless Settings Page and under Wireless Security Mode you can change the Security Mode to either WEP, WPA or WPA2 then input your desired password.

Rate me if this helps so i can help others.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Ineed dlink dsl-2520u dreiver for 64 bit windows in dlink site i cloudnt find anything about 2520u can anyone help me? is that any sloution for x64 win 7 ?

Modem is system independent and it is irrelevant if you run 32bit or 64 or indeed any bit operating system. Modem is accessed via html (browser) or by command line (masochists only...). Just select your country and download manual, as access and settings vary slightly from country to country, I cannot then provide you with more relevant information.

Please find all drivers and manuals for your modem here:

Enjoy!

I bought an Ehome eh-100 and Wi Fi antenna. This is because I want to obtain an Internet signal so I can have Internet in my computer. When I enter to the configuration of the router I don't Know what I am...

if you plug the rg45 cable that supplies the internet to the router into your pc do you have internet capability?...if not call the cable folks for help.....If you do then you want the router to have DHCP capabilities. It will ask you for an address for your router to supply and it must be different than the address you would have from your cable. a safe address for your router should be 192.168.2.1

Dlink not working on my computer that receives signal

visible & unavailable means that the wireless security settings are not the same on the recently formatted computer, as on the rest of the network.
Open the wireless configuration for any computer that can connect to the network and copy the security settings (wep or higher) to the unconnecting pc
OR
connect to the router by cable from the non-connecting pc, use the web interface at http://192.168.0.1 to read the security settings, and copy the settings to the unconnecting pc

then it will connect
