Dead pixels on DLP HDTV - cost of repairs?

Itstarted with just a couple in the upper right hand corner of the screen, andwithin a week I have the full “Milky Way Constellation” making its way acrossmost of the screen. The set is just2-1/2 years old and I’ve been told the repair bill could be as much as I paidfor the set.

Is it worth fixing for more than $500? I hate the thought of spending all that moneyfor just a couple years of service. Ofcourse Samsung’s warranty is only 1 year and I did not purchase an extendedwarranty. I still own a 20 year old TVthat has never failed.

Repair dead pixels?

Dead pixels can not be repaired.
The model# WD-52525 you provided is for a DLP TV.
If you are seeing white dots on the screen it is due to a bad DMD chip or light engine. Unfortunately, it is not a cheap fix.

Good luck

You have a bad DLP chip or bad mirrors. Contact a repair place like rivervalleyelectronics.net and they can repair it for cheap all you have to do is ship it to them.

Sir, its white small dots on complete screen, like sky with stars,

Place a white piece of paper about 1000mm in front of the screen and focus the image sharply.
Choose menu, image, advanced then select color manager.
go through the color options and check if some pixels are permanently on or off (ie small dots or black) instead of a uniform colour on the screen.

The DLP chip is most likely the faulty component

2 little white dots on my lcd screen

if this is a DLP tv, white dots mean a light engine going bad. It will soon look like night stars in the sky.

Hi , 2 weeks ago i noticed some dead pixels showing up on my screen (white dots) since then i'm up to 10 dead pixels. What can i do? I heard it might be the dlp projector that has to be replaced...

White pixels are STUCK pixels, not dead. Read the warranty beacuse at a certain number of stuck/dead pixels, the tv is repaired for free by the seller if is in warranty period.

White dots like stars on the screen was one now six

The DLP chip has failed and must be replaced. Samsung was covering the cost of repair for this problem on certain models, but I am not sure if yours is covered. You can call 1-800-samsung to find out if your unit is covered and where the closest service center is located.

I have a 42" samsung rear projection tv which has developed 1 white dot about 1/16" it has been there for about 3-4 days. Is this a sign of more trouble to come? Can it be fixed, or is this a warranty...

It is a dead pixel and samsung will not honor any warranty on dead pixels under 20 of them. It is considered within tolerence level despite it being a damn pain and a fault that shjould be rectified by replacement.

But you can try.

Good luck!

White dots all over the screen

call samsung. there are aware of this issue with several of their dlp sets. To avoid a class action lawsuit, they've extended the warranty of several models to cover the very issue. give samsung a call and see if you model is covered. i just got my 46" repaired at no cost and without a warranty.
