Have you tried right-clicking on one of the songs and choosing Get Info? I had some songs like that too and had to fill out the artist. After that it remembered the information even if I removed the song from my library and re-added it later.
thats the way the software works. I'd suggest using an option like within winamp - where it looks for media tags and fills in all the appropriate information as to artist and genre for you. Winamp will do this with songs that have absolutely no information in them whatsoever (like burns) but it cant with homemade files like your buddy's garage band. The only way to seperate it besides folders is within playlists.
Select Recently Added, Artists, Albums, Songs, Genres, My Top Rated, Playlists, Podcasts, Audiobooks, or Recordings (Voice). - to view songs by album, artist, etc.
Or remove the track lisitng from the ID3 tag completely.
you could only change the name by right clicking it and select rename.. for the artist you cant unless you downlode a tag editor which you can edit the name, artist, track #.etc.
I used ID3-TagIT to change the album name of my songs to the name of the folder on my Sansa c250 that I want to put the songs in. Open your Sansa in My Computer, double click on Internal Memory and open the music folder. Add a new folder and name it whatever you put in for the album name of your songs. Highlight all your songs and drag and drop them into your folder. Don't use media player to sync or they end up all mixed up in different folders.
Chances are that you are using windows xp. open up your sansa folder to where it says pictuer, movies, ect. look at the picture to see what to do. In your player folder click tools --> folder options --> View. Under hidden files and folders click 'show hidden files and folders, click ok. The music folder would now show up where the videos and pictures are. Simply open the music folder and delete the ones you do not want. By default the songs are sorted by artist --> album --> song.
