Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G Router

Wireless Router Causes XP PRO to Crash. I just purchase a Linksys WRT110 wireless router and installed it using the EasyLink setup cd. The install went OK but Windows XP PRO immediately crashed and continually rebooted until I powered off the laptop (Lenovo T42) and the router. I can access the internet with this laptop by either wiring the laptop directly to the cable modem or directly wired to another router. As soon as I plug in the new router to the power supply the system crashes and reboots even though it is not wired to the laptop. The MS error message says "Problem caused by Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2200 BG adapter software (w22n51.sys) created by IBM. Download updates for Intel PRO.........". I looked at the Lenovo support site but could not determine which patch might help. I spent a couple of hours chatting with Linksys support but they could not help me and finally said to return the router. They gave me the instructions to manually configure the router but the problem is that the system continually crashs as long as the router is powered on. Can someone please help me with this? I have basically the same problem. I purchased a used Gateway m405 laptop with internal wireless. Operating system is Windows XP. It works fine elsewhere except at my home. I have a Linksys WRT110 router. If the router is plugged in, when I turn on the laptop it almost totally starts up then the blue error screen flashes (too quickly to read it) and the laptop restarts, and keeps doing it over and over. When I unplug the router no problem. Any help would be appreciated.

The problem with it crashing is not because of the router it is because of your internal wireless adaptor. Once you have the router configured, delete the router software and go to Intel website and download the drvers for your Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2200 BG adapter.

Have you unisntalled all the Linksys sofftware through add/remove software. I had a similar problem with an IOGEAR Bluetooth transceiver, I did the setup from the CD, my laptop (Dell C640) blue screened each time. I uninstalled all the IOGEAR software and my laptop stopped blue screening. I never installed the software for a wireless router, I always use the WEB interface and my life is my simplier.

How to install a wireless router without installation CD

To connect to your wireless router, the router's wirelesssettings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also thewireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with theserouter's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicatewith your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down andput it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption.
Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

I am trying to install a Linksys wrt 110 wireless router without the installation cd

Connect all the cables then hop on a PC connected to the router. With a web browser go to: 192.168.1.1 Here you will enter "admin" (without the quotes) for BOTH the username and password. Once you are in you may configure the router to your liking.

Router setup
You do not have to use the cd. Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response.

CANT ACCRS WIRELESS ROUTER WRT110 BY LINKSYS CISCO

Sounds like the router needs to be reset..

Before you do a reset try to login to the router by typing 192.168.1.1 in the webrowser ..

If that fails then look on the back or under the router and there is a reset button. Press and hold for 10 sec ... The let sit for a min or 2 then try logging into it..

Note: That the router will have to be setup again. Default login admin for the password .. don't enter any usernames

You have DSL, so you need to access the router's setup page and put your username and password in the PPOe settings.
See this page for instructions:

Also, your DSL provider is a good source of tech support and they will help you set it up.

It means you have to plug in your computer to the router through a ethernet cord. Most computers have one, and on the back of thats router has 4 ehternet female ports. Plug it in, and run it again.
