Question about Hotpoint RGB745 Gas Kitchen Range

Open Question

Hotpoint RGB745 Gas Kitchen Range, oven doesn't hold consistent temperature.

Oven does not maintain temperature while cooking. Oven will come on and preheat as it should but then temperature drops while cooking and remains below preheat value. Every 15 minutes or so we set the temperature to 5 degrees higher and wait for the preheat just to keep it going. The self clean function and broil work OK. I have changed both the thermocouple and the control board. Thanks for your ideas. I have problems with the oven temperature being all over the place, though usually low, but not consistently. Not sure if I should replace the sensor, which is about $75 or the ignitor. Any advice? Thanks

I eventually replaced the oven ignitor. That has solved the problem.

Hotpoint Gas Range does not hold temperature

We had the same problem, my husband took ours apart and noticed a loose wire off the relay board for the oven. So far it's working again, we had it at 450 for awhile and it kept the temp, then lowered it to 325 for 1/2 hour and it kept the temp, yippee! It better keep working, because he's cooking a ham on Christmas!

replace the thermocouple located inside the oven cavity near the top,it is a copper or silver colored tube with an expanded end on it called the bulb, this component senses the heat and cycles the gas flow to the oven during heating

Hotpoint gas oven

This is an indication of low gas pressure to the oven. This condition may improve when other gas equipment is turned off and worsen when demands increase such as during cold periods where heating plants are running. Contact your local gas company to check pressures at the burners and adjust the incoming pressure to the oven accordingly.
