Re: nuvi 250W

The unit has to have a clear view of the sky to receive satellites. Also there is a "use indoors" setting that disables the receiver.  Tap menu, then tap the setup icon with the picture of gears or a wrench, look for an icon that says gps, or mode.  The mode should be set to normal.  If you are still having problems acquiring, try plugging it into an external antenna.  If it works with external antenna only, that indicates a problem with your internal antenna.

The date that my Nuvi operates on is incorrect

Nuvi 200 - trying to reset the date using the method suggested by Kevin A (and in a cellar) and after two hours the Nuvi was still "locating satellites". Am I doing something wrong?!

My main problem, however, is that having loaded a copy of the latest European maps onto the card used in the device, when going through the "where to" routine I am asked to enter State/Province. Living in the UK this is a little difficult as there is no answer I can give that the unit will recognise! Any ideas?

How to change country.

When you get to England, turn the unit on and let it get a satellite fix. It will know where it is, and should default to England from that point until you turn it on in another country.

My garmin gose not move when we move

it hasnt linked to the satellites yet...make sure its fully charged, then slide the switch to the off position for 15 seconds, then power it back on and take the unit outside in clear view of the open sky and wait until the satellites lock on.

you can tell when the satellites are linked by the bar at the top in the main menu need atleast 3 green bars for it to aquire your position.

Please don't attempt this yourself. You risk damaging the unit. There have been (3) different LCD displays used in the production run of your unit. You won't know which one it takes until you open the unit up and again you risk damaging the unit. Please see this link:

"locating Satellites"

When you purchase a Garmin product you are given a key upon registration. If your Nuvi is registered then you need to go to Garmin and click on support. Here is a link to Garmins home page. Hope this helps, Sea Breeze
