Question about Siemens SpeedStream 4200 (13A4200001) Bridge

Setting up a static IP

I am trying to set this up in order to forward ports from a specific site. there was a section in the portforward site that i printed out in order to help me do this for Windows Vista. I followed everything step by step, but i still cannot acheive this. If set up on a static IP I cannot get online. I get an error stating the address is already assigned to another computer. The only way I can get back online is everything set back to Obtain IP address automatically.

Re: Setting up a static IP

Hi kellysdad,

Setting up static IP is what we called manually IP or not generated by DHCP. Maybe you where putting the same IP between your bridge and your network TCP/IP properties.

Try to removed your network devices from hardware control panel and installed it again..

Hope this will be helpful to you.

Best Regards,

Cant connect the d-link website after ip replacement.

Have you tried to reset your router? If not, do so. It will reset everything to factory default.

To reset, look for a hole near the ports, where it says RESET. Use a pointed object such as a paper clip.

Hope it helps.

Cannot share connection

The IP address that you have is an automatic IP address the Windows generates. It basically means your computer is not getting an IP address from the router (DHCP). You should try powering everything off. Then, in this order, power on your modem, wait 30 seconds, then, power on your router, wait 30 seconds, then power on your computers...This should fix the problem since one computer is working already.

How to enable WAN IP in a DI-604 Router for 3 computers

"I wanna make the 2nd pc a server but it isn't accessible through the WAN ip. "

Well that explains everything. If you want to get to from the internet, you need to tell the router where to send packets. You do this by going to the ADVANCED section and configuring Virtual Servers. For example: If you are setting up the computer at 102 as a ftp server, ftp uses port 21. The name would be FTP, private IP would be, Protocol is TCP, and the Private and Public ports would normally both be 21. Don't forget to Enable the rule.

What this does is tell the router that when ever a request comes in on port 21, it should forward it to To access the external side of the router you need to go to (according to the image you posted)

Laptop can't connect to internet

1) Your Network or DSL router may have bad or missing information. Powercycle your router and/or rebuild the configuration in your router.
2) Double-check your cabling to the computer. Make sure you have the correct type of cabling, straight-through CAT 5 or possibly a crossover cable and try another cable or test the cable to make sure its working properly.
3) Check your network card to make sure its configured correctly and working properly. Many times setting the network card to 10Mbps/Full Duplex will solve this issue. To do this, open Control Panel, System, Device Manager. Go to the properties of the Network card, click on the Advanced tab and find the Link Speed and Duplex section. Change it from Auto Detect to 10Mbps/Full Duplex.
4) Check and test your firewall. Your firewall, especially if its a software firewall like ZoneAlarm, Black Ice, Norton Firewall or something else could be blocking the connection. Disable your firewall and test the connection. You may have to resolve the problem by even uninstalling and reinstalling the firewall.
5) Check your IP address assignments and workgroup settings in the computer for accuracy. Statically assign IPs to the computers in your network.
6) Reset your TCP/IP stack by downloading and running WinsockXPFix.exe a Visual Basic program designed to fix corrupted TCP/IP issues, host file problems and a variety of other connectivity issues.

Static Ip with Speedstream 4200 Modem

I am assuming here with the way you have it set up your getting an internet connection.
what you saying i understsand mostly so i'll see if i can help you
first of all you have speedstreem modem that connects to you isp, this is assign your internet address from the isp if you paid for a static IP it would be in here, if not it's assiged by a dhcp from your isp company so if you if turn it off or have a power loss for anymore than 5-15min your ip changes.
now your modem then connects into your belkin router this as well as your modem it's prob set up as dhcp so it wants to issue each computer with an internal address of 192.168.0.X the reason for this is so it knows where to send the incomming information to what computer.
no matter what computer your using the address that goes over the internet will be the one assigned to modem from internet provider so if this need to be static IP to run your game server you will have contact your internet provider for an address.
but you may be confussing the issue a little, my suggestion to you would be:
1. go to your connections on each computer
2. right click on the lan connection choose properties
3. go to internet protocol (TCP/IP) then click properties
4. then click on obtain ip automatically and obtain dns automatically
this will remove the static windows address you may have put in.
try this and see if you can get you game or game server will work.
btw you may have to reboot your computers after this to get be sure to get the new address.

Static ip address

It is a ADSL Modem. It should have all ports open. In order to set a EXTERNAL static Ip address, you would have to call up your ISP and ask for a static IP address.
