Type of memores for asus P5S880-VM MOTHERBOARD Q=? FROM==miko hozer

Your motherboard can take DDR1 pc2100, pc2700, or pc3200 memory modules up to 2.0 gb maximum. If you upgrade your memory you must do the following. If you are only adding 1 module it must match the other module that is already installed. If you are installing both modules you can use whichever speed you want. The higher the number the high the Mhz or speed BUT it will only run as fast in Mhz as your front side bus speed which I think is 800Mhz (pc3200).

Old memory + new

Depends. I think your dell 2400 will accept up to 2GB, in which case it shouldn't be an issue. Some systems like only paired memory, but yours isn't one of them. I recently upgraded a gateway with exactly your config and it works just fine. In fact, better than ever.
You'll quickly find out when you plug them in.
Also see this link to the crucial memory advisor.
And that way if you ever decide to max it out...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

PC 2700 DIMM emachines memory upgrade probems

1. There is a problem with your new RAM even though it supports up to 4 GB it doesn't mean that 1 GB of RAM is compatible. It's possible that the 1 GB DDR2 that you have installed is not supported by the system bus of the motherboard and won't make it through startup because of compatibility issues.
2. Try getting RAM from this dealer because its compatible with your motherboard and supports the system bus http://www.pcmemorystore.com/Intel-Intel_Motherboards-D945GCZ-ram.htm

Memory upgrade problem

That does not sound like a problem with a memory upgrade. try to unistall McAfee and reinstall. The memory change may have threw McAfee off. Make sure that the ram is also in the right bus. Buses are color coded and the 2 ram stick have to go into the same bus. this can cause problems
