What's up fellas? I had to put vista back on my acer 5630. When it came down to puttin the device for the touch pad I downloaded synaptics and for some reason It's not showing up in the device manager. Only the mouse option is showing Also I pressed fn along with f7 and it showed me enabling and disabling the mouse pad. Did I do something wrong?

First you need to shut down and plug in an external PS2 or USB mouse so you have control of both buttons. Then boot up and go to the Acer web site or to the Synaptic web site and download and extract the latest updated driver for your touch pad. Go into control panel ' system ' device manager ' pointing device, Then right click on the touch pad and click the driver tab and then the "update driver" button. Browse to the folder where you downloaded and extracted the new drivers and install them. Shut down your machine, unplug the external mouse and re-boot. If it is still doing the same thing, then you have a hardware problem and you will have to replace the touch pad unit. You can probably buy one off eBay for a lot less than Acer will charge you for one. If it is still under warranty then ship it back. As a side note, it is helpful if you also post what operating system and service pack you are running.
As by your description, the FN F7 key combo did not solve the problem. Please restart the machine , press F8 then select from the list "Safe mode" then press enter. Then see how the Touch pad reacts in Safe mode. If it works perfectly in safe mode, we can assume you have a software problem that is preventing it from working in normal windows mode.
Please download and install the latest BIOS for your machine. The E525 has a issue where the TP just stops working, upgrading the BIOS solves the issue on the E525... Acer Aspire 5920 3813 BIOS
Please install one of these drivers for the desired Operating system...
try installing the touch pad driver from www.acer.comnormally it is synaptics touch pad which acer use just re install the driver and everything will be ok pls vote me if it woks , or if u want anthing else lemme know
Mouse pad jumping can be common symptom of Synaptics pads (is it Synaptics?) - look for driver and install it.
Also, try switching it on from off and do NOT touch the pad for several minutes.
Common symptom when people just use very light pressure on mouse pad within first few minutes. Latest driver should fix.
also try pressing whole palm down on touchpad for several seconds - this can reset the software on some touchpads.
As for webcam, disconnect it, uninstall drivers, re-install drivers and then re-connect it. If it is built in then go to Device Manager - Hardware and find the device - click on uninstall driver - then re-install the driver.
Double click the icon in the toolbar. Click the device settings tab and then hit setting. select buttons in the list on the left side. Hit the plus sign(maximize) and select scroll up button action....scroll down button action...Etc. For each action select what you want it to do and just hit apply and move to the next. Once you have selected the action for scroll up, down , left, and right hit apply again just to be sure and try it. It should work. I just did it on my 5630 but Im assuming it works the same.
there doesnt seem to be a setting in the synaptics touchpad menu for this so you will have to reset the touch pad, go to my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager and go down list to mice and other pointing devices.
Click on it and you should see synaptics touchpad, right click, and select uninstal.
Restart laptop and the driver will re install synaptics driver and set it back to default.
